Purchased a large power hacksaw from an old fellow and I asked about getting it loaded. He said should be no problem I have a hough loader. Right then I am seeing night mares of an old loader with no brakes around my new pickup but told him I would be up Monday afternoon and see if we could get it loaded. Got there and here is what I found a 70 year old hough that was perfect. All of them that I was ever around were yellow and most never had brakes. By today,s standards pretty crude but I am sure 70 years ago they sure beat a shovel. He actually uses this one to feed his small saw mill and it does a good job. He did coment on how hard it was to get on and off.

I grew up on a Hough model HM. A straight body, rear steer gasoline job. I sure wish I still had it. Heck of a good old machine.

Hough was a separate company that latter was purchased by IH . I am not sure when Ih bought them out.

That is a really sharp looking old Hough. I have a late 60's some model Hough loader. I would not do without that machine as its just a large heavy brute to do chores a tractor endloader cant. Before that I had a Michigan 75A that was very similar to the Hough pictured but 4wd. It was a bear to get on and off of too. Neither machine has or had brakes. You just learn to run without. If I need to load from my pickup I just make sure I am on a small incline so I can use the throttle to creep up to the truck.
