Massy harris 33 still no start

My massy stopped running and i found i didnt have any spark to the plugs. After replacing cap, roter, plugs, wires, points, condenser and coil i have spark but it wont fire.(i know i should have done better trouble shooting before replacine everything just figured a good tune up would be good for my recently purchased old tractor). Im sure i have fuel getting to the carb, i have recently cleaned the carb and checked the line from glass bowel to the carb. I just came in for the night and havent tried too much more after finally getting spark. Just wondering what else i could try knowing i have fuel and spark. I even took the intake hose off the carb and sprayed ether and used my hand to cover the intake. Could it be flooded and i have to let it sit over night?

Assuming you were careful when you replaced the plug wires and didn't switch any of them and you didn't move the distributor timing should not be an issue. Remove the drain plug from the carburetor bowl or open the drain petcock on the carb. It should drain a steady steam of gas for several minutes if you have a good supply of fuel. Since it was running OK, then stopped and you found no spark to be the cause, I suspect that the spark plug wires may have gotten mixed when being replaced, which would of course result in an out-of-time condition. Just a wild guess.

It could be flooded. Try again in the morning, without choke first.

If it still doesn't want to start, double check the spark again, at the plugs, while cranking.

And double check the wires for proper order and position.

A good test for fuel actually making it to the engine is to hold your hand over the air inlet of the carb, give it a crank. Gas should wet your hand.

If the engine is getting a little tired, and you did a lot of cranking when it didn't have spark, It may have flooded enough to wash down the cylinders. If everything checks out, and still no start, try a couple shots of light oil in each cylinder.

I double checked the wires so i know theyr in order. I did them one by one also so i wouldnt get messed up. I think il drain the carb and go from there. I didnt spend too much time on it after i made sure the spark was back. I just got bummed when it didnt pop right off as it usually did before the spark issue.

Do you have a good hot blue spark of a weak yellow spark? Sometimes a weak spark isn't enough. Check the points gap, and for frayed wire where the wire from coil goes into distributor too. What kind of plug wires did you get? "Solid core" copper or modern carbon fiber? A lot of the older ignition system need old style copper core wires to work right.

make sure your rotor is turning. if it has a hyd pump run by the cam they do break at the hyd. pump end some times they will try to start because the break is not clean
