The kind of baling sky I get this year

Was foggy this morning , then the sun came through and hot. I raked this field at 11:00am . Sun and cloud all day, never even got close to dry enough for dry hay . Started to get dark clouds at 5:30, and looked like rain. So I started baling this little chunk at 6:00pm and getting darker by the second. Wife called me at 7:30 and asked if I was still baling, and has the rain not stopped me? Never rained here , I told her. 5 miles away at the home farm it poured . Got it all rolled up by 8:00 , this 7-8 acres gave me 84 bales , now I have to wrap them. Hay might be old , but there is lots of it. This Kubota baler will bale better than any baler I have ever used or hired .Bruce

Well I was going to ask how you like the KUBOTA baler but you addressed that. Of the ones we have sold that is just about the very words of the new owners. Have one out that has already baled 4000 bales this year and he is still happy.

Kubota bought out the Knvernlands /Vicon hay equipment line , and still build everything in Europe . At least that is what I understand . So Kubota didn't create this baler, just bought the plant , and rebadged the equipment.

Why did you get a baler that bales such small bales? I have a backup baler that bales a 4 1/2 ft X 4 1/2 ft bale and when baling with it seems like I don't get going good until
its time to tie another bale.BTW I wish I could send you about 10 degrees of the high 90's temperature we've been having rough on an old Poor Boy farmer with no cab and air(LOL).
Actually I love hot weather.

(quoted from post at 08:52:30 07/12/17) Why did you get a baler that bales such small bales?.

I've asked the same question of several farmer friends. SOme do it because their wrapper won't take anything bigger than a 4x4, some because they have a system set up for smaller bales, some just don't care.

Never saw a K baler down here. Curious about moisture content. I don't recall ever having a crop that wasn't intimidated by weather somewhere along the harvesting cycle. Many times has pushed me into baling earlier than I wanted. You have moisture problems with your weather inflicted schedule?

Thanks,
Makr

The baler and the wrapper will both do 5 foot bales , and the baler will also ct/chop the hay while it is making the bale. The reason that I make the bales the size that I do is because we feed them in our tie stall dairy barn , and these bales will easy weight 1,000 lb. There is no way a man could ever hope to move a 5 foot wet bale by hand in my tie barn. If I was just dropping them into a feeder maybe , but just think how hard it would be on the loader tractor carrying a 5 foot wet bale .
