Planted some silage corn today , on a field I took hay off 10 days ago. So my 37th crop is now all in
,an this is the second time in the 37 years that I have planted corn for silage on June 25th. The latest
date that I ever planted corn . Last time I got a decent crop , hoping for similar results this time .
Figure that , even planted this late , it may fair better than corn that is six inches tall , and
standing in 3 inches of water. Seen some like that this week .Bruce

I finished planting silage corn the 23rd of June a few years ago. Turned out just fine. Latest I ever planted was July 8th.

It will be a week before anyone can even cut hay around here...hail today, a wet week forecast.... those hoping to apply N to corn are getting desperate since some corn is close to hip high. Those that have already put some N down last week can only hope the fish will benefit, cause that's where it is. Beans and corn need second pass of Glyposphate soon as well, but some corn has canopied enough that a second pass is not needed. Second cut is just around the corner too. Wheat is changing, and there will be lots of surprises in the fields once the combines start rolling. Ben

We planted corn on the 4th of July a couple years ago and it was the best corn that year. May 10 is considered The last of prime planting for corn for us and June 1st is late.

Yes, but it did get black layered so it would have made corn. Hadn't froze hard enough to kill it when it was ready for silage.
