I have a 4430 that will only move in 3th gear in A B C D And
2 revers can any one tell me what might be going on also moves in 3th Hi and Low

Not on that linkage layout.....I would first check cab mounts then lean towards top shaft issues.

I do but not everyone does. I split at clutch housing/transmission then roll out from under cab. Rockshaft needs to come
off as well

How many man hours do you save by rolling trans/diff from under cab vs removing cab then splitting tractor?
Thanks,Jim

Sudden failure or gradual ?
Has someone towed or coasted the tractor down hill ?

Jim The biggest savings is in not having to break the AC system open. Also I can have the rear half rolled out in about the time it takes you to remove the cab. You just need to support the back of the cab. I have jacks that I made that do this. I would say on a complete job it saves 3-4 hours.

This only applies when doing a transmission split only. If you have to split at the cutch housing then it is quicker to lift the cab.

I do not know I bought this tractor on a farm
Sale and this is what I got thanks for any help
You can give me

You won't beat my time taking a cab off and splitting in my shop, and 90% of the time the shrader valves hold the Freon, if they don't 5 cans at 4 bucks a can is not much.I find this method much quicker and easier..

I don't understand your statement "remove cab to split at clutch housing"? I've witnessed many Newer Gen's split at clutch housing with cab still in place.
Thanks,Jim

I really cant compare the two methods as this is the way I've always done it. I agree that it saves opening an AC system
which was a touchy subject back when R12 was being phased out. The biggest reason I do it like this is because the shop I
started in didn't have clearance to lift the cab.

Thank you Tim s for the pic any pics always help when doing something for the first time thanks to you out her guys for all the info
