At a local auction this post hole digger is up for sale as well as a newer Leinback unit. Does anyone recognize this brand? What should I look for when purchasing a used post hole digger?

Make sure any and all brackets are there. Several years ago I bought a digger made just for the N series Ford and it requires brackets under the axle and they were not there It only uses those under axle brackets and the lift arms, there is no top link hook up. So just make sure it is all there.

burchett........SHARP edges on the flighting. (twisty part) and while some oil leak kenn be expected, lotta means NEW SEALS. Remember ittza GRAVITY DOWN and hydraulic UP. When I moved to my 5-acres of starvation grass (moss) wife wanted a new pen putt upp. Rented a 2-cyl YammaBottaDeer and gott some pressure treated fence posts. Always amazed me that even with the new fence post inna the hole, there was never enuff dirt left to tamp it tite. I eventually made some metal props that would hold the post straight while tamped the dirt. But hey, when yer wife makes more money than you do, you live where she wants to. So I hadda 1-hr drive to Boeing in Seattle in morning and 1-1/2 hr drive home in evening. (same distance).........digger Dell
