Sweetcorn season begins!

First day to have sweetcorn on the stand for sale. It will be pretty crazy here this weekend when word gets around that the corn is ready. tried out the new bird cannon and it seems to do pretty good job of reducing the damage. Need a rain badly here in SW Indiana. Some in the forecast for Friday. This corn is on sandy soil and had not had more than 1/4 inch in the last 4 weeks. Kept it going with trickle tape. Saved a 3 acre patch and the water never shut off for the last 3 weeks.

Lucky you!! Love sweet corn, especially home grown. Ours is just tasseling so it will be a while yet. We had a cool, wet spring so it seems like the first I planted took forever to emerge. Have made two additional plantings since which are doing pretty good. The last I planted is just coming up. If we were close we would be stopping to get some of your sweet corn. Good luck with your sales.

I live in south central Indiana and we had got too much rain in the past week, well over 10 inches at some farms. Our sweetcorn is not even tasseling yet.

I'm just glad you didn't post any photos, I'm already drooling down the front of my shirt! We in Wisconsin start looking for the locally grown sweet corn around the 4th of July. I could live on a pork chop a day and all the corn I could eat!

My personal patch is a foot tall, second planting about 4" tall. First year since 07 that we have not grown any to sell...can't say that I miss it. Picking 100 dozen a day gets old after awhile....

put 3rd planting in the ground 2 days ago, gonna wait 2 more weeks and seed another 1/2 acre. That outta keep the old gal and me thru the winter.

Found a picture of dads corn crop. Not sure if it's Kandy Korn or Preacher Hill field corn.
