Stretch really needs your advice (but he may not realize it)

I'd be curious to hear what you boys think went wrong with Stretch's New Holland baler:

Thanks.

Gee I miss square balers. Other than that,I don't know what advice anybody could give him. Looks like he kinda got hosed on a used baler.

watching the video, right before it broke, the twine from the twine box was extremely loose, thinking tension or lack of it caused the problem.....

Already going bald.
If he keeps screwing up like that , he be completely bald in a year.

Never did see a bale come out of that machine.
Got' ta pay attention.

Where did he post that video? On you tube? He said he was"baling along", but from the handful of strings that he had he must have had about a dozen broken bales (string on one side only). The third broken bale should have go him out of that Kubota to investigate.

I think the baler was fine but Lance did not thread the twine through the tensioner on the twine box. Look at all the slack at about 5:10 in the video. It ain't gona tie with slack in the twine like that.

If got it right after the dealer worked on it, and he didn't touch the twine, the dealer should have noticed that the twine tension was loose. That could be what caused the problem before the dealer worked on it.

Third?!?!

I get off after the first couple bales whether they tied or not to check on things. One broken bale is a fluke, two in a row and something is definitely wrong.

Lanse,
First off, I hope you are using some good sunblock on your forehead or you need to get an Indiana Jones type of hat. I lived in Dallas for 10 years and I know how powerful the sun is. I've already had some spots taken off the top of my ears and my forehead.
Second, you're getting lots of hits on Youtube. Perhaps you could just retire from farming and just live off of Youtube royalties. :)

First off I hand turn my balers to check the knotter function for the 1st time each season. Then I machine run them about 5 minutes slow. Then I trip the knotter about a dozen times before any twine or hay goes in. Then I thread it and trip it to load it up. Then I go bale some hay, half an hour later. And....I NEVER trust a shop to do anything without checking it personally. I have found several serious goofs by shop guys before.

Now he finds out the real fun of farming. He will need to learn how to rake hay into proper sized windrows and hopefully learn how to route the twine from the box to the needles. I'm pretty sure we've all had to learn how to do these things. The only difference is, most of us didn't do it on camera so everyone could see our mistakes. I'll give him credit, he does enjoy making videos (especially when he's getting paid for them).

How exactly does one decide its "season ending"? I've never been in a position where I could just throw my hands up and say "I quit" no matter what farming issue was faced be it death, medical or mechanical.
