jd 2750 won't go into first

Another "minor" problem with the 2750. It won't go into first. Other gears are ok, a little grinding but I guess that's not unusual. Tried adjusting linkage (this is a cab model), no change. I don't use this tractor much myself so I don't know how long it's been doing this. With the help of this forum I've managed to fix many of the "little" problems that come up. Thanks.

Will gearshift not go into low gear position? IMHO cab shift linkage is a little complicated.

I would give the linkage a real good look. If you have a second person it would help to see if something is binding or caught in the linkage.

Well, I hate to own up to this one but....
I wasn't finding any easy answers so I went back out and started staring at it. You can almost see down to the bottom where the linkage ends. Didn't look right. On the outside there is a plastic cover under there, must be for protection. I got it almost off. It was packed with possibly 30 years worth of junk. 8 ball point pens, bolts, cotter pins, hairpin clips, dirt, you name it, even 2 knobs that I thought were lost! There is a small slot in the bottom of the plastic, but once it plugs, things just pile up. (I may post a picture)
Shifts like new! I love these kind of fixes.
Lately I post a lot about this machine. Every fix makes it a little nicer to work with. I'm beginning to like it! Now, on to the 3pth arms not lowering.
Thanks for the continued help, what a great forum!

I have with no luck. The draft control won't budge, looks like somebody bent the arm trying. That could turn into tough repair (cab would have to come off) for me. I might just live with it until it really annoys me. Thanks for your input!
