Help starting tractor

I am sure this has been discussed before, but when I look in the archives I must not be putting in the correct request. Well I have a Farmall B that has sat for several years and am trying to get it going. I have good spark, and good flow of gas to the carb. I cleaned the carb and installed a new needle and seat. Also new gasket. Have checked and rechecked to make sure all passages are clean. The tractor will fire on ether and if it sits for a time it will fire on gas, but runs out of gas. What am I missing here? What should the idle mix screw be set at when first attempting to start? Any help would be appreciated.

Two to three turns should get it running. Is the choke working. The float could be hung up or the strainer at the carb could be plugged. After trying to start does gas run out the bottom of the carb like it is flooded. I would also clean and check the plugs. Points can also be tarnished and need cleaning. Some starting places.

idlemix has nothing to do with your problem. Take the drain plug out of the bottom of the carb and see how much and how long gas flows out. Wont be a gush just a steady flow that will answer if you are getting gas thru the carb.If not there is the problem. Another check with the hose off into the carb place your hand over the carb to see is theres suction. Mite have a bad gasket or maybe you left the venturi off when doing the carb. Is the rotor pointed at the tower when it snaps.

Good spark as in it jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more?? If it does not jump a 1/4 inch gap or more it is not a good spark and need to be taken care of.

You say you have gas to the carb but that does not mean you have gas in the carb and no gas in the carb means no run. Pull the float bowl drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in under 3 minutes. If it does not fill the jar and yes catch the gas in a jar or some other such thing. If you do not have that flow you either have a sticking float or the float needle does not open as it should or the float is not set as per spec
