B Farmall with mower?

Brought this home today, motor is loose, mag impulse clicks lout and clear. Going to change fluids tomorrow and see if it will run. I haven't been able to find a tag or stencil on the mower, which seems to be in excellent condition. It has a right angle drive mounted on PTO connected with a "U" joint to a pulley to turn the two blades, measures to be 5' and blades looks like new. Any ideas of brand?

During the 1940s after the end of WW2 in New Zealand the Farmall B was a very popular tractor along with the likes of Case VAC and AC model B to replace one, two or three horses on one-man dairy farms. Fitted with the Inter mounted 6' mower they were very fast hay mowers

After WWII the woods started making mowers they called corn stock choppers as aftermarket mowers. My 1950 Farmall C had a 5 ft, 3 blades. I have a newer rear mount 6 ft woods finish mower on my Jubilee.

My farmall has a very long belt that loops around 3 pulleys. It has a pulley on the rear gear box where a flat belt would attach. I up graded it to a 6 ft woods corn stock chopper and now I have a very large pulley attached directly to the PTO.

Without a better pic I'm guessing woods. Seen them on AC tractors too. My dad had a woods on his 40's farmall cub. It was a 4 ft.

I have a 1943 Farmall A with a moweer on it. The whole thing is full of holes but works. Trying to find blades, I finally went to an International dealer and learned that Farmall made mowers specific to tractor it was used on. Mine was one such, 3 lawnmower blades from dealer -----$100 in a box. They are the only mower that uses two bolts on the blade(or so I was told)

Keep in mind, the woods brothers didn't get into the mower business until after WWII ended and they got out of the army.

I turned the engine over by hand, it was too easy, no compression at all, I have a spare engine that is in good shape that I'll probably swap out. In the meantime I took the mower off and mounted it on my "A" Farmall. Just 6 bolts and bingo, NOT. I had to adjust the length two inches to clear the front tires, I had 14.9X24 on it and had to change them back to 11.5's to clear the deck. Then had to change the pto from the "B" to the "A" since the "A" has the larger pto shaft and the mower uses the smaller one. What I thought would be a snap, took all day, but I got it done and will add trans oil tomorrow and try it out. Got one grease zert that won't take grease, but not a problem, can fix that in a jiff. Happy mowing now.

They are good mowers I have owned several over the years. Never seen one that was set up for a small PTO shaft. All of mine were on small PTO tractors and used an adapter sleeve. If you have reason to remove the gear box check it closely to see if there is one stuck in it. Make sure you have the gear box aligned with the PTO and not just hanging on it when you tighten the braces otherwise it quickly wears the PTO shaft, or the gear box , or both.
