1st cant get stump jumper off any suggestions on a way to get bolts in gear box? 2nd what grade bolts go fom gear box to deck

From above you need a BIG spud bar,and drop it on the part of the stump jumper that the blades bolt to.You go thru the access hole in the deck. You may need to heat the jumper where the big nut holds it on,but you would probably ruin the bottom seal.It usually takes a lot of effort to beat it off.
I would use grade 8 bolts to hold the box to the deck.Mark

We got mine off using a monster puller that a friend had pick up at an auction. Also used heat and a sledge hammer on puller after it was tightened up. Needed to replace seal after cleaning up the shaft where seal rides.
You might could make up a puller.

I agree with above. I had to make a puller from a tractor drawbar. Used 1" bolts. Torch and beat it through the deck. Also ended up cutting stump jumper off. Had the cutter held vertical with a backhoe. Not for the faint of heart. If cutter is an old one I would think about junking it.

I know it might be bad idea, but I took the bolt out that holds it on, went out and mowed. I mowed several time before it fell off, of coarse I ran it very close to the ground. Not saying to do it my way.

Do you have a REALLY good reason for removing it? I ask because a bad seal is not usually considered a good reason.
