Neighbors equipment

My wife and I are in the process of building a new winter home west of Phoenix so I just had to check out some of the local farmers equipment. Magnificant valley that grows nearly anything right near the central Arizona canal system. We will be about a mile west of where these pictures were taken, backed up to the White Tank Mountains which is where Caterpillar proving grounds once were.

Thanks for sharing pics:

Lois (My wife) and I spend winters South East of you in the Farm land around Florence:

Dang, that's a pile of money in those photos there!!

That last pic - is that wheel supposed to be that way? Looking at the tread and the roundness of the tire, I'm inclined to say yes, but sure seems like that would be hard on the spindle and bearings!!

Tom,
My dad farmed with JD's. He said they painted them green because green is the color of money.

A farmer a mile away farms with a lot of green paint and every time I drive by I think of what my dad said.

You are half right. They are harvesting potatoes in the one picture and yes those wheels are built to run like that. They plant some crops on beds and the equipment is designed for that use. The other crop they are harvesting is radishes. They also are planted on the beds and in very narrow rows.

We have spent the past 11 Winters about 3 miles South of this area in Goodyear. Having grown up on a farm, learning about vegetable growing has been a real education for us. Really interesting to watch the carrot harvest and cabbage and various lettuce crops.

This is about 3 miles from Luke Air Force Base which is the major training base in the world for the F-16 and now the F-35. Can watch vegetable harvest on one side of the road and Fighter Jets on the other side.

Bob,

It sounds like we will be neighbors. If you are in Good Year then you will know about Verrado. We are going to be in the Victory area of Verrado overlooking the golf course and the base of the mountain that Caterpillar built the road over.

Tom, we are familiar with Verrado and like the new restaurant there. Very nice area. We are in Cotton Lane Resort on Van Buren. Great area to spend the Winter. We come down after Christmas and leave in mid April. Should get together in January.
