Snapper 1855A electric clutch

Hi All,

I've had my Snapper 1855 for two years and she has treated me well. I recently rebuilt the engine, a new experience for me. Learned a lot! The engine runs better than ever. That's the good news. The bad
news is that I must have assembled the electric clutch that controls the mower deck wrong. It started to smoke and by the time I got the tractor shut off the windings were shredded.

I can't find a replacement online anywhere--not on ebay, craigslist, etc. I know the original parts are no longer manufactured but am hoping that someone out there who is experienced with Snappers can
help me find a source for a used or equivalent unit.

I found an exploded view of the clutch midpower takeoff on an online replacement parts website that lists the original model number as 7019836. In parentheses is listed Warner # 5208-752-010.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been dead in the water for weeks and am getting tired of borrowing mowers!

Thank you much,
Tim

I aggre with hunting. I have an Xetreme on my Husqvarna. Beautifly made, good cost, and comes with the bolt and wire adapter if needed. Follow the directions they give you ! Has run for over a year now perfectly ! No question.

It IS possible to re-wind the magnet section of your clutch in your shop..

Clean it good and purchase the same size magnet wire..Length is figured according to the Voltage DROP per foot.

What you need for wire length is enough length to have a FULL 12V Voltage Drop across that wire..end to end..

Wind NEAT coils of the wire, tieing it in neat bundles as necessary, until it will lay IN the groove for the magnet wire..NEATLY..it must, as
you will be pouring 30 minute Epoxy into that area until it is full..( be sure to have one end of the wire Grounded internally) and leave enough tail to reach your connector..

When the epoxy is completely cured, you can install your re-built magnetic clutch..

Thanks for your help, everybody. I believe I've found the solution.

I was able to track down a technical support person at the manufacturer, Warner Electric. He put me in touch with the actual manufacturing plant. This clutch assembly hasn't been made since 1979 but they have the components to make a new field assembly which is the part that got trashed on my mower.

Both people I spoke with at Warner have been very friendly and quite helpful.

Thanks again, everyone.

Tim
