Son bought himself a bus from Des Moines. A driver drove it through a house during a snow storm. Son seen it advertised and bought it for the 8.3 Cummins, went to Des Moines and picked it up. Now it sits in my yard? Does anybody need any parts? Lots of neat stuff!----Tee

Those 8.3 are hard to kill. I did some development work on them in the 90s. You might try to sell the seats out of it. We had a couple in collage bolted to 4x4 for seats on our porch. One ended up being used as a sled behind a truck and that did not end well!

Seats might work for a little Diner-Style kitchenette or breakfast nook. Two facing each other. If I were closer I'd probably try to pick them up. Nice bus, aside from crease in front looks to be in good shape. Runs and drives?

I worked at the Tech Center and did some work on the small engines. I work in high horsepower now.

Seeing this reminds me of what I saw after an incident at an intersection in the Twin Cities a few months ago. I came upon it on a Saturday afternoon before the police arrived. A city transit bus was traveling south on a public street. A car apparently went right through a red light and t-boned the rear part of the bus. The bus only went about 200 feet beyond the intersection. I was amazed at the loss of coolant from the bus engine. I would have thought the engine compartment might have been better protected than that. It was really messed up, and likewise, the car was, too.

They said it ran good but it has 200,000 mi on it and they robbed parts off of it. We were coming home with it and the roof started peeling back so we had to stop and put another yellow strap over the top.---Tee

Don't know much about them. This one has a really well built aluminum bumper on each end. You would not believe the electronics and wiring-switches, solenoids on this thing.---Tee

I thought I would form a rock band and use it for a tour bus! Or put some farrowing crates in it and get back in the hog business.---Tee

Buses intended to be kept moving, so fuel economy is a much bigger consideration than side crash protection.

I would charge the son a monthly parking fee to prevent it from staying for ten years or more.

My first thought was a Red Green fix. A little Plexiglas and duct tape will fix that right up!

How much???? It is 8 ft. x 41 ft. Ya figure rent on land around here is 2-3 hundred per acre and there is 43560 sq. ft. in a acre so 8 x 41 is 328 square ft. so divide that into 43560 it figures out to be $2.26----I am going to be RICH!!!!---Tee

I don.t remember that. He left Cummins and has his own business called Excel Engineering in S.W. Iowa-were he came from. He is my nieces hubby. We went to the Louisville show back in the 90's?? when he worked there. He gave us a tour of the dyno rooms. Now he does a lot of work for Deere. He used to run around with the puller Harts Desire out in Indiana, now he pulls his own Pro stock with the Outlaws--SMALL WORLD.---Tee

Do you know any of the trainers in Columbus? One of my high school friends is a trainer for Cummins out of Columbus, IN.

I know a few. I have meet alot of people in the last 20 years there. I work in Seymour now at the high horsepower tech center.

I do remember him talking about pulling tractors. I think he was on the 15 liter dohc engine project. I built alot of test engines for a lot of people back then and now it's hard to remember!

He showed us a lot of different stuff. Maybe it was longer ago. I think it was the first time I ever heard of a M-or N-14. Took the place of the 855-right?

the N-14 was the newer 855. M-11 was an updated L-10. I started there in 1996. That is a very interesting place. The smallest engine we run here is the k-19 and up to the 95liter. I transferred down here because its close to home, even though Columbus is 30 min away. I can see one farm from here.

You are jogging my memory. I had a Cougar 1000 and the had the L-10-replaced by the IH-9150 which had the M-11. Son's Deere 8630 has the Big Cam 855 Kinze kit. Doug showed us the engines that they laid down for clearance on boats and locomotives. It was very interesting. He is doing pretty good in S.W. Iowa except for the fire they had about 5 years ago-gutted his main building but they rebuilt. K-19, 1140 cu in.. 95 liter--5700 cu in.--Wow---Tee

Versatile use the k-19 in there 1150. The rail engine lays almost on it's side so it can fit into the high speed trains in Europe. Those were always fun to work on. Were I am at now the factory side builds the 19 liters and few of the the rail engine. Every once in awhile you see a green one headed for Deere.

Co worker said that a couple of his friends had stripped a bus down and re cycled it. They only did one and said they would not do another. To much work.

Hope the woman's cats are ok. Prob scared off when the bus hit the house. A bus will do that.
