Charged Plowing without permit

I just opened MSN and was surprised to see some guy in California is charged for plowing without a permit from the Corp of Engineers. Course it's California but this has been coming. The extremists want to shut off all farming and this is the start. When there is no food then we'll be charged with trying to kill them.

There must be more to the story than is quoted happens all the time soeone posts a big news item but does not give all the details.

The guy stipulated he plowed 4 to 7 acres of wetland which he knew were wetland from a TSP he had hired to tell him where to stay out of. On top of that they had endangered species in those wetland areas.

They are trying to say since he sub-soiled the property he discharged dredge and fill material into waters of the US. Kind of a stretch however they guy admitted to getting into a wetland...

oh yeah, 7 outta 450-acres. Tree huggers gott'em by the fuzzys. 2 seasonal creeks that drain into the Sacramento River fulla endangered salmon. You believe that, I gotta bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell you.......Dell

Seems as tho the ferries were worried about the ferry shrimp. Looks like they could find something else to worry about, like not having anything to eat if they keep this crap up. Just saying. Sure glad I don't live in wonderland California. Just my thoughts, Keith

A "wetland" that is dry most of the year.......

If you can run a ripper through it without getting stuck its not much of a wetland.

Granted there is much more to the story and all stories have 2 sides. The jist of it is "it's coming".

I saw an old farm site get sold and the pasture behind the barn get a 30 foot circle marked off as a wetland where Roman poked a pipe in an artesian well to water his cows. The "wetland" had some swamp grass growing among the reed canary in the rest of the old pasture and dried up by end of June most years. If that is the case every building on the existing farm set is in violation of wetland set back.

On the flip side I've seen houses get plopped next to a full time mosquito swamp with rushes and lilly pads and the owner straight out admits "I was surprised".

Too much bureaucratic inconsistencies.

Here is just part of the article,

Duarte's wheat was planted but not harvested because in February 2013 the Army Corps of Engineers and the California Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board issued orders to stop work at the site. The agencies claimed Duarte had violated the Clean Water Act by not obtaining a permit to discharge dredged or fill material into seasonal wetlands considered waters of the United States.

Where he may need to work the ground again. Smooth out the soil.

"In addition to civil penalties, the U.S. Attorney?s Office is also asking the judge to order Duarte to repair the damage to the wetlands, including smoothing out the soil and replanting native plants in the wetlands."

What are you trying to do to me? It's Wednesday evening and I've been relatively calm all day. You did this to get me all wound up, didn't you. Can't stand to let me have a calm, quiet evening, can you? Nooooooooooooooope. Son of a

Good night everyone. That's it. I've gotta go. I've gotta shut 'er down before I do something that has sheriff's deputies from two counties over in a joint...what ever they call it when they do that and come over. Good night.

I've said it many times over the years. WE THE PEOPLE control this Countries Government, and when we let the Government start controlling us, we have a problem.

That being the case, it sounds to me like ALL of the farmers in the US need to strike for at least a few weeks. When the rest of the industries that reply on farm products start grinding to halt, and the people find the shelves beginning to get bare, the Government will have no choice but to admit, 'who owns who'..............

Well, when all the farmers are prevented from farming, just have to tell the tree huggers to eat the ferry shrimp from those few acres. It'd be a sight to see all them California flakes fighting over a few salad sized pieces of shrimp to go with their glass of Napa Valley white wine.

...And remember, they're "seasonal"! *lol*

This post reminds me that I've got to get the brush hog out on some parts of my property that are a little low, basically depressions in an otherwise flat field. I went around them last fall but I saw this spring that the vegetation is sprouting pretty good due to all the wet weather up here in Michigan. There's probably 3-4" of standing water at the deepest point and they're about 50 ft across. They usually dry up by mid-June but I'm afraid to wait that long. I try and keep them cut low to avoid some gubment official sticking his nose in there.

Wayne, you're right but.... Too many people living hand-to-mouth..... that's why the trucker strike didn't work...... that's why milk-dumping doesn't work.... too many of us have to make a mortgage payment and pay child support , praying for the wheat to carry us through to the beans. Meanwhile the rain continues, the wheat sprouts in the head....
fertilizer bills just got mailed out....
