Front end terrible noise

On the way back from the farm (was working on tractor) turned truck to the right and the left front made a terrible ratchet-like sound. It was in 2-wheel drive. 2008 Silverado 4X4. Looked underneath, saw nothing unusual. Guess I'll pull a wheel first thing in the AM. Any ideas?

-something dragging in abs tone ring on cv joint
-4wd front disconnect partially engaged so the dogs are grinding in the turn
-outer cv bad
-tire dragging on bodywork
-more? Ratchet noise needs uniformly spaced bumps to be hitting something it shouldn't.

I'd look those inner fenders over first. Dealer put a new frt. bumper on my 2013 Chevy Silverado before I bought it 3 years ago. Last summer going through a bunch of sharp curves it sounded like I rolled a stump up under it. One of the bolts fell out on the frt. of the plastic inner fender and dropped it against the tire, somebody left a bolt loose.

Pebble stuck between rotor and dust shield. Raise the front end and spin tires to find. If it is now gone, it might have fallen out. Or, dry tie rod ends. If the are factory sealed and squeaking, Moog should sell a
grease-able joint. Rockauto.com should have a decent price on it for you. If the joint is sqeaking and you don't desire to wait for it, stab a small hole in the rubber boot rear side and spray in some decent quality lubricant with a plastic tube on the spray can. Two fast fixes with the long distance crystal ball, that is in need of new batteries.
