Found an old M&W Gear Company booklet and decals.

Grandpa had his WD overhauled in 1970 with M&W Gear Company pistons, and I found this amongst my tractor manuals -- they apparently sent him a booklet and two hood decals and a letter. I thought it was pretty neat and you all would enjoy.

That's really cool. Back in the day when companies really showed you they appreciated your business.

Agco now ownes the building in Gibson City and they make batwing mowers and other things. Elmo Miner and Gus Warsaw had a good thing going at one time. I had a classmate and friend work there.

And if you went a little tooooooo crazy their power kits would blow
the crap out of your engine. Ask about the neighbor who blew up a 450.
My dad bought it cheep and he and I put i. New rods, pistons, crank,
block, head, right rear bull gear, and mwybe a couple of more parts.

I met Art Warsaw when he delivered a dynamometer to the shop. I asked him about the M & W dyno and he says, well, I am the W in M & W. He left and started his own co. A & W because of a disagreement about how dynamometers should be built. It was a very interesting day I spent with him.

Pretty cool stuff . You would be surprised at what that would go for on ebay . I'd guess 85 dollars maybe more with the decals.

dad had a cousin who worked there. he was a corn and soybean farmer worked at a m&w during off seasons.
he said they would hire only farmers to work there. is this true?

I have always been very interested in that company but don't know very much about them. Thanks for posting that...

Something I've been doing with old collectable stickers and decals is scanning them onto the computer. Then I use sticker paper in my printer
and make copies I don't mind wrecking and put the originals away for safe keeping. Best of both worlds.

I have two WDs and the one with the M&W pistons seems to run a bit quieter in the engine to my untrained ear. The other one sounds like a typical old Allis WD engine... But one has a Nelson muffler and one has a Stanley muffler so that may skew it a bit, too. I never tried to dyno them or anything though, and don't know if my other WD was ever upgraded or not.

I use a laser printer rather than inkjet, colours are better. The paper I use is also made for stickers rather than regular sticky back paper. Only real issue I have is when stickers have creases and they show up on the scan.

Yes a A&W dyno was a few notches better. Didn't matter what rpm you wanted to check. Just slide the load cell. I met Elmo Miner. He had a south farm at Springerton Il. He knew a lot about many things.
