RE : Badger

I missed the discussion last Saturday about Badger supplying Massey Ferguson as Badger was a MF subsidiary back during the 1970's. I would just add that here in New York very little was sold under the MF colors as MF dealers had greatly faded away other than a few exceptions. Mostly saw forage wagons in Badger green and most Badger dealers carried a major line so they did not really push manure spreaders, mower conditioners, and barn support products. If the cards had fallen a little different there might have been quite a bit more Badger products sold in New York which for many decades has been a major milk producer.

My wife's uncle was Sales Manager at Badger in the early 70's. Unfortunately a stroke left him disabled in the mid-70's.

I live about 25 miles from the old Badger plant in Kaukauna Wi. They built forage boxes and blowers for other brands also. There were a few different colors on their products when they left Badgers yard.

There was lots of Badger , silo unloaders , stable cleaners , manure spreaders , and forage wagons sold around here in the 60's and 70's. still see some come up at auction from time to time . We had a lot of Dairy here too. Local Massey dealers sold plenty of manure spreaders , balers and other hay equipment at the same time . The glory days of farming .

New HOlland Forage BOxes were also made by Badger. absolutely identical but red/yellow. saw a badger built MF a couple weeks ago. MF hay/forage stuff wasn't very common around here. Gehl made some MF branded mowers and balers years ago.

in NW Pennsylvania lots of badger farmstead products. silo unloaders and barn gutter cleaners were pretty common

here in NCentral Indiana you see a few badger brand boxes but i haven't seen much else. Maybe a forage blower or 2 too.

the aamish usually have old odd stuff. some Rex built Chief , coby and a few Allis Chalmers forage wagons of course Gehl and Meyer are the most common you still see in regular use non-amish use.

I grew up on the opposite side of Kaukauna, where Badger equipment was built. They made some good wagons and such. Didn't really have much ourselves other than the barn cleaner system. Most of the time that was too worn to give an honest opinion that wasn't skewed by stuff breaking well after it should have been replaced.

Later on after I moved out dad finally fixed up the gutter a little bit more and it seemed to work really nice. Installed an auger somewhere in that time frame as well.
