It's worth about 6-800 dollars but ya gotta find the person who wants it. Most refrigeration equipment has either died or been retrofitted at this piont. I been in cooling heating refrigerant work for 17 years and only had to deal with 12 a couple times and that was pretty early on. Might find someone who has a car restoration shop that's the only real market I can think of off hand. Even at this time most new cars were switched from 12 to 134a in the early 90s.

I had 3 30# cans. I researched the red tape needed to buy and sell freon. Then I decided to sell it to a friend who has a small HVAC business for $200 a can, cash no receipt.

what its worth is relative to finding somebody who can use it, ive got trucks from the era but all are factory a/c delete, never had it, best bet is a restoration garage or a antique car club who might have un retrofitted original vehicles with a/c

R718... I know there's hidden humour here but can't wrap my mind around it. Something common CO2 isn't it???

As far as I know, it requires an EPA certificate to buy/sell/handle R-12. There are some heavy penalties for releasing it into the atmosphere, but nearly impossible to enforce.
R-12 has been almost completely phased out and replaced by R-134a. There is still a small demand for it among restorers of antique vehicles.
It can still be purchased over the counter is you have the EPA certificate, but it is heavily taxed and very pricey.
R-22 is headed the same way. So far, there is no really GOOD replacement for R-22. Personally, I have stockpiled some R-22 for my own system. Time will tell if a good replacement comes along.

Compressor just went out in one of our coolers. HVAC guy ordered another one, installed it and it had a sticker on it saying "use R12 only", I asked why he said NOS and put R134 in it, didn't work. he then used R12 works great.

Went through all that B.S. 30+ yrs(?) ago including R&R machine and till recently used Freeze 12 and got along fine with the few non converted systems. Got a feeling this stuff is too valuable to break open and got some good info in some reply's to this topic.

............."but nearly impossible to enforce. " just like a butt load of "laws"!
