What is the deal that so many pictures are set twisted sideways? I have got so if I see them sideways I just pass them by not worth looking at anymore. Ruins the whole post and sucks to help somebody with them like that. Hard to look at.

It is because a lot of us are helpless hopeless old fa#ts with one foot in the grave and are just too numb to master modern technology. It is apparently up to you to post a tutorial to instruct us how to take them or post them properly.

It "does" get rather irritating sometimes, but if there's a pic I really want to look at, I just paste it into Paint and rotate as needed. Really makes things difficult when there are multiple pics, and when trying to understand the detail when someone is explaining something about their tractor.

One thought I had is, a photo is normally taller than it is wide. So could it be possible that the forum software sets photos that way by default? Plausible?

I am getting tired of turning my monitor ninety degrees so the pictures turn right side up. And this old head wants to flop over to one side so the pics are only forty five degrees out of correct.

This topic has been on here quite a bit and from what I am getting it is all pictures posted from smart (DUMB) phones. I do not know what to do about it.

Adding a bit more to what's in that link, the problem is that some picture viewing software checks the information attached to an image so it knows how to orient the picture and will rotate it automatically if the camera was rotated when the picture was taken.

But if the software ignores the EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) the picture will be displayed as it was recorded by the camera. This can be really frustrating because the picture looks right when you review it with a good program, then ends up sideways when a dumb program doesn't rotate it.

I don't know what browser you use but with Firefox if I right click on the picture then choose view image it will rotate it to the correct position.

If I post pictures, I'll go through the whole posting process, and everything is good; until I get to the post preview before you hit submit. 8 out of 10 times it will post then crooked at the last step. Never used to do that. Now, instead of just pulling them from "gallery" to post them, I run them through a photo editing program. Don't edit them, just take them through there to post them, and they come out fine that way. I dunno what causes it, but that works for me now, so that's how I do it.

There are some simple solutions, pick one of the following ....

a. Flip your monitor or laptop on its side
b. Position your head horizontally
c. Do all sorts of computer photo program manipulation
d. None of the above

I choose the "d" response above, I just view them sideways, doesn't bother me a bit.

I don't know if this helps but on my MAC I can right click the picture and and select open in a new window and most (but not all) will open right side up.

More work but quick and easy if you are interested enough to see it better.

I once tried this on an iPad and that time they opened right side up on their own. I like the desk top better.

. And here I thought I was the only one doing that. I used to try to look at the pictures sideways but for a very long time now , as soon as I click on a post and see the picture is sideways I X right out. I always thought it was because the posters were just too lazy to go back and do it right side up. There now I feel better. And I still an not going to look at pictures on there side.

. So if it is so easy, why doesn't the poster do it when they make a lop sided post ? I won't bother jumping threw all the hoops I 'll just go on to something else.

. Why is it such a problem ? My friend Loren post a lot of pictures on here and some of the best pictures ever and he is just an old retired Case Dealer but he always gets them right side up.
