Favorite vehicle

Had a quasar blue 94 GMC 1/2 ton regular cab short bed with 145,000 miles when I let it go. Never should of gave it up. In the ten years I owned it it got tires as needed and one set of brakes. Body held up great as well.

My new KTM 1290 Super Duke . Turns 10.2 in the quarter mile stock. I have yet to go to the track .just got 500 miles. Why? ; pure speed.

1965 Mustang 289 High Performance. (little flag on fender) Hp clutch, 10 bolt trans, Shelby suspension pkg. 3.20:1 Limited Slip Code = C, Caspian Blue W/white top, Convertible. on G70-14 Firestone Wide Ovals. My teeth hurt thinking about it. Jim

my 2008 Chevy Trailblazer--lots of room and great in snow and has a low gear transfer case for driving on the beach

1964 Impala SS. Owned two of these in the late 1960s.

Second: 1958 Oldsmobile 98, J2. My father owned one of these and it was the first air conditioned car that I rode in.

Dean

Past.. 59 Pontiac, two door hard top, two tone blue & white owned for 5 years back in the mid 60's.
Now... 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan

Ol' Blue, my '77 Chevy, 4x4, flat-bed, she still romps right on down the highway... those are not rust holes, they are high-speed vent louvres.... unknown mileage, she's on her third or fourth speedometer, don't remember..

I guess I could say I don't have favorite vehicle. The vehicles I own serve their utilitarian purpose and that's enough for me. I have many old memories in the old 705 MPG 79 Power wagon but it isn't my favorite.

66 Dodge Dart. 273 hi-pro. Solid lifters dual point distributor. Hurst floor shifter.4 speed. Would take on ss396's and win. Turd brown. Real sleeper

For fun its got to be the 52 Merc that I play with every chance I get. Not at all practical for going anywhere very far or fast but great for cruising the back roads and listening to the sound of that straight piped flathead V8. Got nearly 60 years of memories in that rusty old beast.

Well that may be one that I have yet to experience ?

I liked the 1996 Toyota Rav 4 for overall driver seat comfort and position. But overall it was too cramped for back seat leg room and side room with winter coats on. Don't have it anymore.

1981 F350 with dump bed I must like it as it is still with me since 1985 got it used. It is still very handy and useful.

2008 Honda Fit has been my daily driver since 2007. Been a good car and very handy as it holds a lot for a little car.

I liked almost all my cars. Dependability wise a 90 GMC pk/up, 286000 miles when I sold it, still had ice cold air. Favorite that I owned that I wish I had for a wk/end driver would be my 64 Impala SS, 69 Camaro SS or 77 Vette, either one. The dog I hated most was a fancy 97 GMC Jimmy, trouble started when warranty ended, pure junk!!!

I'm to young for these models, but here it is. 1939 Wyllis Coupe. They look like they are going somewhere. A 1939 Ford Coupe is right in there. 1964 Plymouth Barracuda. It's almost ugly and almost pretty. The Ford Model N gets me also.

The all time favorite that I owned was a 1957 Mercury 4dr hardtop. That car and I were in something like 40 states together. I owned it for 8 years.

Among other escapades, a New Mexico State Trooper once clocked it at 87 after I'd come uphill for a mile.

All time favorite pickup was a 1975 GMC crew cab dually with a warmed up 454 engine. With headers and glasspack mufflers, there's never been a prettier sound on earth than that sucker turning about 3,000 rpm pulling a trailer.

1066 Pontiac Grand Prix. Best looking and driving car I ever had. She would just float down the road as fast as I cared to drive her. Sure do miss that old sled...

OK now you're just rubbing it in. My first car was a 1964 Ford 2door sedan. Dynasty Green. Straight 6 on the tree. Boy did I ever put some miles on that car. Years latter parked at a gas station this was parked with a burnt valve. Bought it in 1976. Rebuilt the engine. Had to move it last week with my friend and this rag top is also Dynasty Green. Car is all original.

The '57 Pontiac Starchief 2 door hardtop that I had in college- probably for the great memories, more than anything, but it was a great road car. Presently have a '66 Olds Cutlass convertible, red with black top and interior- got it fixed up for my 50 year class reunion last summer. Wife, especially, loves it- about time to take it out of wraps for the summer.

#1 on our list: My wife's 2008 Mustang. Warriors In Pink package.

Ones I have owned: 1964 Dodge Dart, slant 6 with factory 4 speed. Second would be a 1969 Dart Swinger 340, 4 speed, 3.91 rear, orange with black vinyl top and the bumblebee stripe.

One a friend owned: 1967 Fairlane R code, 427, 4 speed. Second would be a 1964 Galaxie lightweight, 427, 4 speed. Got to ride in both. Maybe that is why I have neck priblems now.

Next on my list would be any performance car. Just the feeling of horsepower gets the blood pumping.

For me i have had several over my years . First would be my 61 Ford Galaxy sunliner that i had. and tool it from a 223 I 6 with three on the tree to a hand built from bare block up 390 Tri power four gear with a 9 inch Detroit locker , then came the 68 Road runner ( still with i had that car) , had a 71 Duster 340 that was a Chrysler show and test car. Now as to trucks my 73 Ford F250 4x4 that had a few light mods done to it . Now ya as for BIG trucks the 1977 I H 4300 Eagle God was that truck fun to drive .

89 or 90 Ford Thunderbird. Super coupe. Gets up and goes. Had em. Loved em. Kept fixing em. Sold. Lol. Now everyday use 2000 f250 7.3 keeps going and going.

1958 F-100. I guess because it's mostly unrestored other than one repainted the original color. Also because it's low mileage around 60,000.
a157924.jpg

a157925.jpg

I have a 32 ford 3 window coupe. Pro street 500 HP. But I still love the 72 Olds Cutlass S 350 4spd. Holley and Headers with Posi and L60s on the rear. 23 MPG on the Highway and it would kick a 454 Chevelle's buttocks. Loved it. Sold it in 77.

Oh, man! Had a '76 Ford Elite 2 door (black inside/out), that was the first one I bought, pretty when polished up, hard to keep clean. Then a '79 Mercury Cougar XR7, man, good thing that car couldn't talk from my courtin' the wife days!! Most dependable vehicle was a '91 Olds Silhouette van with 262,000 miles when I parked it! Guess my favorite woulda been my Daddy's '66 F100 long bed Ford with a 300 six and three on the tree. Inda learned to drive with it and hauled motorcycles to the race tracks for a year or two in it!

Lots of good cars below, bring back memories. Myself the car I would like to have back is a 1988 Chrysler 5th Avenue. What a comfortable car to drive! Now in my herd my favorite would be a dark green 1964 F 100. Just bought it in February so haven't been able to drive it much. 289 Mustang engine,C-4 transmission PS&PB, roll down the window A/C. Summer is coming! joe

My favorite car is the Cobra Daytona Coupe. I was allowed to drive one, feel in love with it. Just couldn't afford to buy it. My best driving car. Was a Studebaker Hawk GT. 289 with a Paxton blower. Real ticket getter.

1964 Galaxie XL convertible,390 4 speed, black with white interior.
Bought it from a [u:624533f623]truck mechanic[/u:624533f623] that worked with my dad at a union shop, he couldn't get it to run right.
Got it home and he had the firing order 12345678, did I mention he was a mechanic.
Ran great, used it to escort the city derby queen and princesses at local parades, good times.

The best is 63 F100 292 4 speed got from my dad and still have. Not original but close. The other is a 48 KB2 that used to own sold many years ago and know where is,62 Pontiac 2 door sport coupe had some big V8 in it and 8 lug wheels.

(quoted from post at 12:22:59 04/21/17) What is your favorite vehicle and why?

That's a hard question. Of the ones I've owned, my favorite would be a 1966 custom cab F100 352v8 and 3 speed on the column. My best truck was a 1994 F150 300 six and automatic. The one I wish I had back for it's usefulness was a 1977 F250 4x4 400v8 w/4 speed transmission.
My wish I had would be a 1966 Mustang fastback w/289 4 speed.

1967 Firebird......big block 326...2 spd Auto........youngest brother owns it now, repowered it with a 455 Buick.

1965 Ford Falcon hardtop was my favorite.....or was it the Girl Friend at the time ?

Vehicle I have owned? That would be a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix coupe loaded with just about every option available. It was a great car but it had to get traded for a 4-door when my wife was 8 months pregnent with our first child.

Vehicle I want to own? An ag-spec Unimog 406.

o man the good old days 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 6 pack Hurst 4 speed lime green god i miss that car

There are a few vehicles that are my favorite
1. 1959 Ford Galaxie
2. Plymouth Superbird/Charger Daytona
3. Dodge Viper
4. 65 or 67 Ford Galaxie
5. 73 Plymouth Fury

My midlife crisis vehicle is my 2011 Ram Mega Cab Dually

My 1972 Demon 340.

Would have liked to have owned: 426 Hemi Charger.

Today's dream come true: The 2800 hp. version of the P-47 Thunderbolt.
P-51D Mustang.

1955 mercury montclaire 2 dr. hard top white with black top, 292 couldn't lay rubber but would cruise at 100 like it was 40.

sold my 1964 gto last year to a friend if mine. still have my 1972 corvette. daughter wants it, so she will get that one. its been in storage for about 7 years. has 69 k miles on it. had a 66 ss396 chevelle, nice car too.

My favorite was a 1968 Buick Electra 225 Limited four door hardtop that I bought new. Triple black, positraction, all the goodies, even the little fiber optics light monitors on the front fenders and a thermometer on the rear view mirror. It ran like a scalded dog, got good mileage and would outrun 390 Ford LTS's and 396 Chevy Caprices. About the only big cars that could outrun it were 440 Chryslers and certain Ford products powered by a 429. This would include police cars......

Tough question.
Car, 1983 Monte Carlo SS
Truck, 1971 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4
When I was younger I had a lot of good times with both of these. Sold the Monte a few years ago and still see it.

I had a black 87 Turbo Coupe with 5 speed , man I loved that car great mileage , great ride, great handling and it would fly. Drove a couple Super Coupes but never bought one , worked in Ford dealerships many years , and those were nasty to work on. But they were cool cars.

My favorite I only drove it for 1 year. 1978 Lincoln Mk V. Dad bought one for us to drive in high school - found it for $1000 at a police auction - he went there to buy am old Gran Torino and came home with the Lincoln. It was 6 years old, stripped of emission with a 460 4V carb. Black with a red leather interior. The previous owner (drug runner?) had ported the heads and actually installed some kind of headers on it (Custom built?) along with a Carter quadrajet. Older brother took it to college with him where it was stolen and reappeared a month later in a corn field 300 miles away - after the thief attempted to burn it. Put a burning rag in the gas tank - apparently he ran it out of gas first and only succeeded in burning the vinyl top off. Insurance company owned it at that point.

69-72 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4. Trucks just look tough and good at the same time.

89-93 first gen dodge Cummins. Ugly and ride terrible, but tough as nails. Sometimes wish I had my 91 back.....

2013 Arctic Cat F-1100 turbo 174 HP 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds. Lots of fun. If I won the lottery I would buy a yellow 1966 Chevelle SS 396.

my neighbor had one just like that ,,. fine running Galaxie ,, had power antanea, windows ,seats and air conditioning too ,,
BEAUTIFUL too,,and a radio you could hear a mile away when the top was down.. idiot wrekt it ///// I would LOVE to find a 57'
DESOTO Fireflite 4 door hdtop ,. like Dad Bought for my Mom ,..Red with white top , and White under flares , Beautiful wings
that ended with 3 or 4 tailites vertical but canted towers ,, with dual exhaust ports in the lower rear bumper ,.. That car
could flick its tail at anything on the road ,. stock 345 hemi ,. but Dads Car had a 392 hemi out of wrekt ambulance ,,... i was
with Dad when he broke the speedometor ,..that car WOULD INSTANTLY FLY,, and held the road like a race car

THE MARK 5 is the Ultimate Luxury car ...i am looking for a solid good looking Lincoln Mark lll,72 mark lV,or mark V, with sun roof and small triangle window ,,and or,71. thunderbird, 69-71 cougar convertible , and or 64-67 t-bird convertible

1969 chevelle ss 396 325 hp 4 speed bench seat. dealer ordered as a spec car not many options was fast
1985 impala ss it would cruise 85 you would think you were going 65 it would go from 85 to 105 in in blink of an eye.
i found out tall kid took it to school where he was spinning the tires. we had a father son talk about that. he said well you have i said it's my car and i paid for the tires.
we have a chrysler 300 want to get another one all wheel drive.

One that I would have wanted to own was a 1958 Pontiac Bonneville. One of the prettiest cars ever built.
I did own a 1960 Pontiac Bonneville. 389 V-8. Ran like a scalded cat, actually decent on gas, and just about as close to bulletproof as anything I ever owned since.
Second favorite was my old 1963 Corvair Spyder. That one got a bit of warming up, strengthened powertrain, and it would outrun just about anything on the road in its time.
Next was my 1967 Buick Electra 225. 430 cubic inches of raw power. THM 400 trans with variable converter. Really awesome car!!

'57 Chrysler 300 D convertible. '58 would be OK. '59 good too. Bet there's lots of folks here who have never seen one of these cars. Next wisher would be a '34 Ford roadster.

1970 Dodge Challenger with the 440 sixpack. Shaker hood, pistol grip, dana 60 with 4.10 gears. Doesn't get much better than that.

Steven

That is way up on my list too. Had a '58 short box fleetside with wrap around rear window for many years. Had a 352 with Fordomatic put in it. GREAT truck!

While I was in High School, I had a 1957 Dodge D-501. There were only about 50 built for NASCAR. Essentially a Chrysler 300, with a light weight Dodge body. And the Dual Quad HEMI. A real plain looking 2 door sedan. Wish I still had it.

owned....
67-72 Ford F-250's. Granny low 4-speed, camper/trailer specials to get the good engines and gearing.....Beasts.

68 fastback Mustang, (whatever engine...gonna be warmed over anyway) Toploader, at least 3.90 or 4.11 rear.

honorable mention.....69 428CJ Mustang, fun, but too nose heavy and too much torque for a uni-body (and with a Detroit locker, 4.56's and manual drum brakes on all 4, amazing I'm still alive.)

always wanted...67 Fairlane with the 427 (or any FE)

never owned one; as a young man the 55/56 chevy hardtops with all the chrome but now later in life, the 1955 chevrolet 210 two door post in black. it just looks right. at age 16 i had a 1958 chevrolet impala two door hardtop with the 348 cu in, 3 two barrels and 3 speed in the floor. i can attest to miracles as i was not killed in that vehicle. in 1969 at age 22 i purchased a 1953 chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup truck which was my daily driver for over 3 years and now at age 70 i have driven pickup trucks since then. i have posted this photo before but i have been the proud owner of this 1952 chevrolet pickup with factory paint for the past 21 years. purchased from the original owners son it has just over a 100,000 miles on it.
a157980.jpg

That I owned-a 1970 Duster,340,4spd.Got clocked at 89mph slowing down from 120mph.For a second I thought about trying to out run him,but there was no exit for 10 miles on the interstate.Only car I ever drove at that speed, handled well on curves also.Sold it to buy a jeep-teared up when it left the driveway.Never felt that way since about a vehicle.
A car that I always wanted was a 1969 Mustang,4spd,and/or a 1970 'cuda 4spd w/pistol grip shifter.
Hmm-maybe it's time for a midlife crisis!!Or post midlife!!Mark

(quoted from post at 18:38:25 04/21/17) 65 442 nuff said CM

Not enough. In my home town in 1967 if anyone mentioned a 442 they were not talking about the car, they were talking about a certain 1961 Ski-Doo snowmobile. There were two brothers who were partners in an Oldsmobile dealership who were very well known and liked around town. For the 1967 model year they took a six year old metal cabbed Ski-Doo, and painted it up in a 442 color, with the 442 trim striping. Francis was often seen that winter and a few later ones driving that 442 all around the trails in and out of town. Forever after that sled has been iconic in that little town of 3,000

1969 Chevrolet K20 - because it got me thru some hard times and is ready for more! 8)

My 1st car was a '75 Ford Elite, bright red w/ white top and white interior. Still have it, its buried away in grandpa's shed. Its has a 351W right now, but there is a 460 block and C6 sitting next to it in the shed. My uncle bought the car when it was 2 years old, and totaled it before I was even born. He bought it back from the insurance and fixed it. The only evidence anything ever happened to it is there is still a dent in the valve cover where the front end got shoved back into it.

Since then, my favorite car I have owned was a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP/Comp G. It was a fun car to drive, but it was going to get me arrested or killed so I decided someone else needed to own it. The transmission would not downshift right, and would slip when I would really stand on it. It looked good from the outside, but underneath structurally it was starting to rust pretty bad.

86' Chevy K30, dark brown, 350 4V, 4.10 gears, jacked up with 35s under. Bought it one year old with 7K miles, put another 100K on it before it got too rusty. Pushed tons of snow with that beast.

(quoted from post at 09:22:59 04/21/17) What is your favorite vehicle and why?

Not much of a Ford fan, but did love the 68 Torino fastback...never did own one. Trucks, I think my 01 Dodge Cummins HO 6 speed was the best, but a close second was the '91 S10 with the 4.3.

Not my first car, but my first "nice" car. 1951 Ford Convertible.
Don't have any good pictures of it.
I bought it in 1960.
Factory options: all the chrome available including the Crestliner trim that the original owner apparently had installed at the dealership, real leather interior, windshield washers and automatic trans.
It had stick and O.D. when I got it.
Only car I ever dream about.
I'll have another when I win the Lotto. LOL
