disc mower hex shaft

The original subject was "disc mower hex shaft".

Don't know if you are still following this thread but thought I would see. Did you get the hex shaft out of the cutter boxes. If so, how did you get it out. I have one that is broke about 10" in from the main gear box. Separated cutter boxes from main gear box and can't pull shaft out. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Can't find any service manuals either. Thanks, OT

If the Disc Mower conditioner is a New Idea 5209/5212 the service manual is #79017090 and last I checked it is available from AGCO. The unit was also sold as a IH model as well.. 5509??? I buy my parts from my local Case/NH dealer. The Service Manual is quite good. I used it to figure out how to replace my HEX shaft .. a number of years back. The newer models have a segmented HEX shaft ... which is a much earier repair job... locate the serial number and go from there... good luck.
