Deer antler in tire

Well, I had plans to really accomplish things today. Not to be. Spraying land in preparation for planting soybeans early in May, this morning I picked up a six-point deer antler with a rear tractor tire. Had to call my brother for rescue help, and then spent lots of time dealing with the damaged tire situation.

Well if it was a six point antler that means he was probably a 12 pointer. He would look good hanging on the wall! A 12 pointer is pretty rare around here.

I've been lucky so far...only antler I have found was on the deck of the 8' Bush Hog a couple of years ago...must of just gone in deep enough to toss it on the deck...knock on wood!

From the unknowing, since we don't have deer around here to speak of (unless they are green), is that from hunting residue or animals that just expired for some reason or another and part of the skeleton?

Got one in a tractor tire a couple years ago. Wasn't bad, a couple hours later the tire guys were gone and I was mowing again.

Deer shed their antlers annually. I have found both sides near a tree, then the next time, you might see a buck that shed 1 side in December and still has the other in April.

Deer shed their antlers every year and grow new ones. Most of the time you won't see them as mice think they are a good source of calcium and eat them or they are lost in the woods when most people won't be. Occasionally the deer lose them in the field. I've walked most of my fields this spring controlling thistles and have found only one antler, a single spike.

btdt,,. shoulda burned the t hirt ,those are usually accidental ,.Buttt, this one coulda been avoided ,. yesterday while jockeying my truck thru the maze of ongoing current repairs in the driveway next to garage ,. swung the steering tire into a i beam steel end a little too snugly ,,. and You Guessed it !,,.up jumped the devil , and the sidewall of a less than 30 percent wear left on it went PFWEEWWW,. shoow. DONE

Got lucky brush hogging and seen an antler on the ground before I hit it. Went two more rounds and seen the other side. Used the sheds to make knife handles out of.
