Randomnis today in PA

Harrowed the patch to get ready to plant pototoes I cut the potatoes with the Trexler potato cutting machine.My wife and I bought it from a guy in NJ for 100 dollars,but it was actually made in a Town called Trexler,,not Trexlertown,.but a little town called Trexler,,right behind Kempton PA. We actually gave it to our neighbor in PA,he had been looking for one for years.Todays pictures of it are in his pole shed.The machine works great.I was by myself cutting them,so the pictures arent really great of it working,it was hard to run it and take pictures properly. The neighbor and relatives,etc,all have a community potato patch,we are part of it too,its an honor,That will be planted later with Lehigh variety potatoes.Years past the neighbors grandfather used to plant an early patch of red potatoes.The neighbor is so busy this time of year that the early patch of red potatoes has not happened in a while.i asked him if I could plant a small early patch for his grandma. there was one little glitch in my plan. The neighbor has a potato planter,it works great,a two row potato planter.Its in the barn,behind the tractor I call the beast. The neighbor went to move the beast,and it would not start,we couldnt move it ,it was in a tight spot,,couldnt get the planter out. He has so much feild work to do, I didnt want him to spend time trying to start the beast.Helped him load up his spreader with fertilizer and off he went.Before he did,I asked if I could use the Oliver and row marker ,since his wheels are set to match a two row cultivater. Since the potato pieces are ready,and the plot is harrowed,and is supposed to rain later,,,plan B is in effect two rows of red norland,and three rows of red pontiac,,,planted by a little old fat guy from NJ!/////And since there were so many tractors and stuff around his farm today,heres some random tractor shots Thanks for joining me in PA Today!!

the Oliver is a good tractor,,diesel,,The shifter is quite different than the Ford,,Im used to a Ford,but the Oliver 550 Is a great tractor,his grandfather had it since brand new,now he has it

Larry, does the cutter leave enough eyes in the potatoes or do you have to position them a certain way? Ron Mn

Was "reading/looking" at your post with interest AND THEN saw the Oliver 550 !!!
I bought one this spring and my girls have "claimed" it. 🤔 Any advice?

Hood latch on the grain truck caught my eye. HEE1

Our potato cutter was an older one. One of us had to sit on a bicycle seat and work the pedals to slide the cutters back and forth to slice up the potatoes that we fed into pockets on each side of the machine. Beat cutting them by hand with a knife.

I did not know there was such a thing as a potato cutter.
I guess they had a machine for everything back in the day.
