Some states allow it some don't. Guess some has restrictions on it (may be small game only) How do you guys feel about it? What is the pros cons on it? Guess I am generally in favor of allowing it.

we hunt 7 days a week for anything open. no hunting on Sunday is kind of crazy most hunters have jobs and there time is limited for hunting

I think there was no big game hunting in New York but that was before I started hunting,so it must have been over 2o plus years ago. I am unfavorable of it. Because of work and other obligations it is impossible for me to get out during the week. Saturday and Sunday are the only days I can get out.

There is about 10states that do not allow it. Reasons are religious, blue laws, conservation, land owner objections and a few others.

It used to be by township option. It did not apply if you were on your own property. The NRA folks took that right away from us. Most of the rural folks out here wanted one day a week, quiet to enjoy our property. Instead the city folks voted to impose this law on us.

Indiana at one time outlawed hunting on Sunday, that was a long time ago, maybe 50 years. Still have some blue laws, cannot sell cars and beer on Sunday.

I can remember when big game hunting was not allowed on Sundays in NY. It was repealed many moons ago. Businesses and schools got sick of only half their students and work force showing up during hunting season. This happened about the same time businesses were allowed to open on Sundays, also.

Well I made it easy on my ground. NO HUNTING anytime by non family members.

I can remember not being able to hunt on the Sabbath. Many do not put much value in the Sabbath anymore.

The local Amish will not hunt on a Sabbath.....they swear that if you do, it will change the taste of the meat......

VA passed the law allowing Sunday hunting a few years ago, one exception is no running deer with dogs in order to have quiet around churches/homes I believe!!

I'm 82 years old, and I can't remember ever NOT being able to hunt on Sunday in Nebraska.

Now watch someone make a liar out of me.

muleboss- West Virginia was one. This year, it is either before
legislature or has already been approved to allow Sunday hunting.

Growing up in Maine 20 years ago there was no hunting on Sundays. There was an 1100 acre piece of state land near us where we spent a lot of time as kids but only on Sundays during November, so I was grateful for the chance as I didn't hunt. There were lots of out-of-state hunters and some hunters drank more than was advisable, based on the cans and bottles they left behind, so it wouldn't have been wise to go there while hunting was going on.

I must say Sunday is not the Sabbath. I am not seventh day whatever. Sabbath is Jewish before grace for the world. I do attend church on Sunday, however Tuesday would be as good for me.I see no problem for a factory shift worker working on Sunday but they should also take a day of rest and worship on their day off.

I believe it was a regional thing here in NY. In the northern region hunting of big game was allowed on any day but in the southern tier, they did not allow big game hunting on Sunday. Another region, the Catskill region, allowed big game hunting everyday of the week during season.

Seems I remember when I was a kid Michigan had "you may not hunt the lands of another on Sunday" on the books, so you could hunt on your own land but nowhere else. As for the state's side I suppose in theory it would make game enforcement a 6 day a week job, but then in theory communism and gun control are both good ideas,
