Ford 4000 PB Addition Help

Hi folks! I have a Ford 4000 (3 cylinder diesel) with dual remotes (4 ports) to the rear of the tractor but the controls under the seat. Both are used for the loader and bucket. The 3pt must already be on some sort of PB because it stops working when you hit the loader controls.

I'd like to add a port or something to use my 3pt backhoe. Do I just need an adapter plate for PB underneath the current control valves? I appreciate the help. Just FYI I can fix just about anything but have limited knowledge of hydraulic systems.

You would be more satisfied with a rear pto mounted pump and some small tank supplying the fluid for the backhoe operation and leave ever thing else alone. Will be difficult to get enough flow for good operation of the backhoe from any adapter .

Well heck... that seems too easy. Is there a pump you'd recommend? My tach is out so it's tough to find 1800 or 1950 on the 4000. Should I go with a 540 rpm pump that puts out 20+ gpm for best results?

If you add a pto pump, you should look to see what similar machines would use for a hydraulic fluid reservoir. Depending on how you use it, you could have a lot of heat to dissipate and larger reservoirs are one way of getting rid of heat. (keeping it from overheating).
