Stuck tie roda

I am expecting to heat the tie rods, is it best to break them loose by twisting or by pressing outward?

I've had the best luck with leaving one end still connected the while heating twisting it with a pipe wrench or something on the end of the tie rod.

I have never seen a tie rod that was not threaded so you have to turn it or you can strip the threads. Me I would heat it and if it is the slot type after I heated it I would pour in some ATF and heat it again. he let it cool some but not let it get cold and the ntry to turn it in and out

If you think about it with out being threaded and the lock nut came loose you might be in trouble real fast because then the front tires could go hard one way or the other and at road speed that is enough to flip the tractor. Tie rods are threaded so you can make real fine adjustments

That can be true on many things. On my Toyota car the inner tie rod is threaded into the rack and pinion system but the outer one has around 2 inches of threads so you can adjust the aliment of the tires
