followup on u joint question

I recently posted a question about u joints knocking. I found the problem!!!! In '09 I loaned the brush hog to a neighbor. He brought it back with a new u joint because he hit something and broke the joint because someone had slipped a bolt in the shear pin hole. I couldn't figure how to time the joints, so I pulled the metal sleeve off and found the 1 1/8 steel solid square shaft twisted almost 90 degrees. I bought a piece of steel and made a new shaft. Thanks to all who responded to my question. I never would have figured it out without you. Ellis

Thanks for the kind words. I know engines and generators. But ask me about tractors and you will get a blank stare. I have learned allot from being here. Like don't pull starters from certain JD tractors. I am still a rookie but trying to learn.
