I committed to buying a Exmart Lazer Z today I can tell you that platform seat is the real deal. I put a couple hours on it today and was not all wired up when I got done :)

My 2002 Gravely Z260 has served me well it had got to were it beat me to death riding it. Last night I came to the conclusion the suspension seat was the issue. A new seat may have been the ticket but I wanted better. @463 hr its just broke in it will make someone a good mower. A couple neighbors want it BUT they want to pay $1000 down and make payments

So give us the scoop on it.What engine does it have in it and what width cut is it?

I looked at their website and it looks like they make 40 different models. I've heard a lot of good things about Exmark. I've been looking on the internet for the last two weeks...Craftsman, then Cub Cadet, then John Deere, then Kubota, then Simplicity, and Exmark as well. I know that there are residential mowers and then there are commercial mowers like yours.

The one thing that I've figured out is that you can spend about all you want to on one. Do I really want to spend this much on a lawn mower?

Anyway, good luck with your mower. Looks like that is a Cadillac of mowers.

Saw these last week when getting a coffee. Two of these beasts on a
really nice big trailer. MAn O MAN were these ever big! All stainless
heavy sheet metal and massive frames. Huge power plants. I wouldn't
even want to guess a price on them. THESE are REAL zero turn machines.

"The one thing that I've figured out is that you can spend about all you want to on one."

You certainly can. Both of Hobo's mowers look to be good quality
middle to upper of the road mowers. Not some box store junk.

Brand is kind of ambiguous since they are mostly made by the
same company or two, but there is definitely a difference in them.

Compare these two Toro's for example.
Tires, frame, suspension, decks, gas tanks (1 or 2) all different.

The one on the left got sold. The one on the right I just rebuilt
the engine for. There is that much difference in ride and cut.
The one on the left is a "Time Cutter". I wouldn't recommend it.
Or any other ZTR in that price range.

Actually, these are not all stainless steel, just the covers over the fuel tanks and the floor pan. However, I own one of these, a Dixie Chopper Classic and in my humble opinion, the best ZTR on the market. With the springer forks and suspension seat it rides better than my pickup truck. I bought my 2014 new in 2015 and paid $7,800 plus sales tax. It is a Classic 2750, 27 hp & 50" deck. Too many trees for anything wider.

Exmark makes a good zero turn mower. Part of the ride difference would be weight too. I would bet that the "new" Exmark is a little heavier than the Gravely.

And I thought I was doing good by upgrading to a 1994 Scag that my brother aquired with his house last fall. 22 HP Kohler engine, 61"deck. Really good shape and lots of spare belts, blades, bushings, etc. all for $1000. I cut my lawn with it Friday and the ride was a little rough, but when I checked the tires they were all over 15 psi. I let a little out, we'll see next time I cut the lawn how it rides.

Last year I cut with a Craftsman (mtd built) 42" gear drive machine. That sucked. I also had a John Deere 140 that I was trying to get running right but never managed to cut much with it at one time. I sold both of those and bought the scag.

Years before I used my parents John Deere 425 w/ 60" deck. I could cover some ground with that one too.

If you have a lot of turns and trees and a lot of "stuff" to mow around BUT NOT MANY REAL STEEP HILLSIDES (not best there) once you use a stick steer zero turn mower YOU WILL NEVER GO BACK. I love my 61 inch STEEL PLATE (not sheet metal) deck 25 HP Kawasaki powered Husquvarna. I've mowed acres for years and always used Mobil 1 and she still runs like new. If I ever need a new mower Id stick with Husquvarna for sure

John T

I got a new one, john deere Z960M 72'' deck, 31 hp, they delivered it and put it in a barn with books on sea
t hasent moved yet, will have to mow this week still got the old one, will run two mowers this year

We quit running the Choppers at the city I worked for because they were junk compared to the X-Marks. That was 15 years ago, maybe they improved them since then. I still prefer my FWD front deck machine over a ZTR. The diesel uses 1/2 the fuel and it is nearly as fast with a better ride. Plus, I can drink my manhattan while mowing.

They are both the real deal (commercial) both have 25HP Kawasaki engines 60" cut. The engine on the new one is a FX801V 25.5 HP I think the model # of the mower start out with the engine size. My cuzz came by last night he wants the Gravely we took the suspension seat somewhat apart, what we found was a roller are two part of the slider had a flat spot in them. For now I lubed it and its back to working.

I think this one is a 2016 the model listed on there web site. Model # LZE801

LZE = Lazer Z
801 = 25 HP Kawasaki

Look under Lazer ZE series #LZE801 GKA604B 1

The Gravely has a hydraulic deck I do miss it. Weight is still a issue my yard is in a bottom it stays soft and takes forever this time of year to dry out it was still to soft yesterday to mow but it was looking so bad I had to get'er done...
Its time a Zero knocks it out in a couple hours are less a regular rider takes 4/5 hr...

I just added the 61" Ferris 26 hp BS Vanguard. Put a matching 48x52 cover on it, some golf cart balloon traction tires (22x11-10), couple of
extra Cub Cadet seat springs (can't have enough soft springs), dropped the tire pressure to 7-8# and I finally got a bear that will take on
my Houston Black Clay and Fescue clumps with an impeccably smooth finish. I didn't know that I've been looking for this machine for 35
years but I have been and finally found it.

This is my second Dixie. I got the first one in 2006 and ran it until early 2015 with zero repairs or issues. Just routine maintenance and occasional blade replacement. Average about 80 - 100 hours per year. No issue with the new one either. Xmarks are good mowers also.

Am very happy with my Woods 6215. 62" deck, 22hp Kubota Diesel. Deck carried out in front. Tractive unit is on 4 wheels, front drivers, rear casters on articulated axle. Ride fairly good, good seat. Fairly fast, wide deck coverage, very fuel efficient.

exmark people are REALLY good people to work with if there are ever any warranty issues. Make sure to change the hydro
oil and filters on schedule and you will have a good mower for a long time

Gravely went to a retaliative I don't think they will like it they have a picture book yard... They cut there grass about to the ground vacuum it and all the chit a normal person does not do. Its a all day event I told them I will monitor there mexkin yard man train'em on how to use it... I put them on to the mexkin he's one in a million works like he's fighting fire and always looking for something to do...
