MW radiaters?

I have a 4020 John Deere in the shop that we just removed a M&W turbo and big oil pan from. It has a radiator like none I have ever seen before. It is the same thickness as a regular 4020 but is made different. It was made by Modine Radiator. On a regular 4020 radiator you have a continuous fin from one side to the other that connects to all the up and down tubes in the row. On this one the back and forth fins go from one tube to the next tube beside it but not beyond. When you look at it you see all the up and down tubes with the rows of fins between. I have never seen one like it before but had someone tell me M&W made a special radiator for turbo tractors. Anyone ever seen one? Tom

I rebuilt a 4020 a few years back that was hopped up back in the glory days. The old farmer kept this tractor after his auction and it had not seen much use in years. It had the MW Turbo, pistons, pan, radiator, six bladed fan, add on oil filter, Large dry air cleaner sticking out the hood vertically, and a chrome pie gauge mounted on the dash. It made 155HP on my Dyno. Owner said he had it turned down to keep it safe.I was told it had a bigger clutch assembly in it also. It had tons of hours and the MW pistons looked like new. The valves had beat themselves into the head so hard the seats were almost nonexistent. I was impressed with the condition of those head land style pistons. Only set I have seen in 35 years of shop work. Top ring was less than 1/16 of an inch from the top of the piston and shaped like the letter L. These were put in to make the tractor start better. Al

I have a 3020 and a 4020 with the M&W engine kit in them. I like the high top ring as well as they start great. M&W even offered a chrome plated sleeve to resist pitting. I am not even sure if the M&W kit is available anymore. Tom

I scanned a couple of pages on the M&W radiator from a sales brochure

Thanks for the pics. That is a very interesting ad. Your pic makes me think that my radiator is not M&W because I do not have the top corner braces shown in the pics. Thanks Tom

None of the M&W stuff is made anymore the CO was sold to the Alamo grope and they scarped most off it dam shame them head land piston were the bast
