Quadruplets: a 1-in-180 million story!
This cow has apparently defied great odds and given birth to four calves that have been named Eeny, Meeny, Miney and Moo.

There was a registered Holstein breeder here that had one that had triplets several years ago. He had a hired man who's wife was a triplet. They named the calves after her and her sisters.

Those were born around Lubbock, Tx. Lots of disagreement on odds, "consensus" is about 1 in 11.2 million in USA, but English and Irish mathematicians say it is 1 in a billion over there. I've been around cattle all my life and seen twins several times but never triples or quads.

My mind is a little fuzzy on that old saying, eeny meeny miney moe-----what is the next verse?????????? We used to use it when we were choosing up sides -----------Tee

The next line, unfortunately, would get this thread poofed, and us in a lot of trouble.
Not sure about those odds, either- I remember a Holstein at the fair a few years ago with quads, and have heard of some others.

Are all 4 heifers? Hope so.

I heard once the quickest way to build a herd was with a running iron and a fast horse.

i had a cow that had triplets, one time. 2 heifers and 1 bull calf. one of the heifers even was a breeder, other was a freemartin.

In almost 30 years of dairy farming we had two sets of triplets. Herd started at 28 cows in 1972, maxxed out at 75 cows before late 2001. Poor survival rate. Even twins are hard on a cow, and certainly didn"t like a freemartin and a bull calf. Odds are, only about 15% of freemartins will breed.

We once had 6 steers wander into one of our pastures overnight that had the gate left open. I closed the gate and started making phone calls.
But that was the fastest way to GET a herd.
