Saw it again today in a store, "thanks for being our guest". This bother anyone else? I am not, and do not want to be treated as a guest. A guest is someone who visits and drinks your beer and eats your doritos, and eventualy, no matter how much you like them, you Just want them to go home. When I shop at a store I want to be treated like your livelyhood depends on me, not like your third cousin twice removed who can't find a job and needs a couch to sleep on. Soory, it Just turns me off. Lol

Get some sleep Jon. Or do what the "guest" in a Meijer store here did the other day. He was in the liquor isle mixing his own drinks. lol

My peeve is when you finish checkout, are gathering your goods, and the clerk says, "Have a good day."
With all the enthusiasm of a sleeping basset hound. Sure, I'll have a much better day when I'm outta here!

I can understand how you might feel that way if the store didn't make you feel welcome. Then the sign becomes "Thanks for being our guest, now get out of here."

He wasjust being a guest, if he was a customer he would have bought and left. This is what comes of this and I feel vindicated. Lol

What I hate is when you are standing at lowes register mud up to your knees soaking wet on a February day with an arm load of plumbing parts, and you are smilingly told to have a nice day.

When I go to a store or a restaurant I consider myself a CUSTOMER, not a GUEST.

When we have guests in our home we do not tally up a bill for them being there.

From what I heard on the radio,he wasn't even smart enough to steal it. They said he brought his own bottles. The cops just asked him to leave.

I agree, Jon, it is bothersome. The big corporations are constantly twisting the traditional meaning of words and phrases to their own definition or use. There are many other examples.

How about when the bored gum chewing clerk slaps your change and receipt in your hand and says "There ya go"? I usually say "Yep here I go", or if I want to waste a few more words I say " Thank you for letting me spend my money here Dearie". The blank stare usually continues whatever I say. TDF

Jon let it go yes the titles and things has changed. (I am not to fond of some of it) but would you call the store clerk a purser like the old days?? Today its associate!!! Would you call the manager the top or head man??? Today its officer in charge!!!

Maybe that's why Sears, K Mart, Gander Mountain, JC Penneys, etc. etc. .....
are going out of business.
They forgot they are stores, meant to serve the Customers, not treat them as guests!

Went to Target to return some goods and couldn't find 'customer service' desk. Asked and they pointed me to "Guest Services"!!!!!!!!!!!Grrrrrr!

JMOR,
Some companies I deal with for work, now
have...

Wait for it...

"Customer Champions"

WHAAAAT? LOL x 200!!!

You guys giving Jon a hard time just don't understand lol. When I'm stuck in a truck for 8-16 hours a day, I have A LOT of time to myself to think. I come up with some of my best ideas (and worst) while spending so much time with myself. Also allows for extra time to stew about stuff and think of all sorts of great and interesting things! -Results may vary-

I with ya on this one Jon. Every guest that has been to my place has never gotten a bill and change. Some I wish I would have billed. Mostly they got a meal free beer or wine A customer gets a bill and told to have a nice day.

In Defense of SEARS...They are the only company that I get a bill from who give me credit for knowing how to pay without being told to; "Sign your check" "Make sure the address reads through the window" and "Enclose your payment stub" Etc. I applaud them for this.

I have nothing but contempt for Chase bank "trolling" for accounts through the mail......"To our Neighbors", or to our Friends......not your neighbor and you can bet your sweetie ain't your friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you lock down your credit bureau accounts, they can't snoop on your credit rating and send you a solicitation. So they come in the back door.

When I went to work the department that handled personnel and personnel problems was the "Personnel" dept. Before I retired it became the "Human Services" dept. So you ask them where's the Personnel Dept. and they don't have one. Grrrrrrr Politically Correct. Getting to be a sickness......naw epidemic.

At work late in my career, a guy accused me of "Misrepresenting Myself". I asked him, not so politely, you mean DID I LIE??????????

TexasMark1,

Yes, all the word-play (and coerced "correctness") these days... is just plain goofy.

(quoted from post at 23:00:44 03/23/17) You are a guest as they can ask you to leave at any time.
orry, Bud, but if I am paying them money for goods & services, I am NOT their 'guest', but a CUSTOMER!

AHAA! The little lightbulb in my head just turned ON. lol

If I'm a "Customer" you SELL me something, but if I'm a "Guest" you give it to me FOR FREE!

Bet that will make them change their tune.

Sure cure for someone that's "drafting" you, . . . . Gently depress your Brake Pedal just enough to activate the Brake Lights for about 10 seconds without applying the brakes. They usually back-off in a hurry.

It seems that "Its not in Vogue" to have someone offended these days, regardless. Tell you one thing. I sure am glad that I don't have any "younguns" to raise in today's world. Before the wife and I had any kids I asked myself how many did I want. I didn't know, never had them before. Today, if asked the same question the answer would not be the same.

It's like Treason is a hanging offense. Mishandling classified information is jail time. It's the law. But we can no longer put that in writing. You have to say that these offenses can have repercussions or something soft like that since hanging is a harsh word.........Baloney.
