john deere 2640 tractor

I traded a baler for a 2640 John Deere was having trouble with engine stopping after it had run about 60 seconds. Grand son goggled problem and goggle sent him to YT site and in 15 minutes tractor was running. Only problem is it wants to lope at idle. Thanks again for this great site.

Not sure how bad your lope is, but I've spent a lot of time on and around 2 of those and both have a slight lope at an idle. Have been that way for years.

sounds like governor ring in injection pump is coming apart..

Congratulations on your trade. I'll suggest you get governor ring replaced in inj pump before you need to locate an engine block.
