Hi guys,

I have a CASE VAC-14. I'm trying to replace the oil pan gasket. Maybe stupid question but ... how do I get the oil pan off? Its stuck on the front wheel steering arms.

Also while I'm at it... Do I have to remove everything on the front of the tractor past the fan belt in order to change the fan belt?

I just ordered a service manual but hoping to get a little more work in on it this weekend.

Thanks,

- Ian

you will need to either drop the axle down or remove the tie rod on one end and that should let you drop the pan, it looks like that late axle wishbone will let it come off by just letting the tie rod down

I would bolt the pan back up and pressure wash the entire engine, before any repair. No matter what, loose dirt/grit will get into the pan and therefore, the oil, working on it as you are now.Even after pressure washing there is always a loose chunk of dirt somewhere that will fall where you don't want it.I don't know about your fan belt, but the oil pan gasket is not the cause of all the grease/oil on the side of the engine.Mark

I thought it was a failed pan gasket. I also started project trying to fix multiple gas leaks. What are other options? I was thinking oil and gas were wicking all over body. You think I can just power wash it?

Power wash it real good and clean-all the crevices too. Then run it and see where oil appears first.More likely a valve cover gasket-oil flows down,or even a timing cover, but a fan can blow it everywhere all over the engine.Mark
