Got the senior discount today--and didn't even ask for it!

Passed one of life's milestones today, and at Subway, of all places.

Got myself a sandwich. When I paid for it, the clerk said "$4.95---minus the senior discount".

And I didn't even ask for it.

Now I realize---I actually LOOK like a senior citizen!

I'm in denial.

Does this mean that when I go to the drugstore, I'll be checking-out the Grecian Formula and the Geritol?

Rather than the Playboy magazines on the magazine rack?

Golden years? Oh PUH-LEEZE!!!

Now I've been depressed and grumpy all day.

On no! That's ANOTHER sign!!!

Ha! My first thought was, "Depressing, huh?"

Well just remember...
No matter how many years old we become...
it's always better to be on the green-side of the grass. :)

That's what Dad always said anyway. And I'm going with the theory.

Got mine at a restaurant tonight sad thing twenty years ago they would have lost money nowadays i just can't eat like i did back in the day.
At least there is one thing that is still out there as far as showing respect to your elders and it is surprising sometimes when the people giving that little piece of respect seem to enjoy giving that gift.
If you don't want it there's a tip box drop a little extra in there . overheard a conversation the other day about a waitress young kid working two jobs planning on college i left a good tip.

I was at Sub way a few years ago and the girl asked if I was a senior. I said no but my wife is. My wife hit me and the girl gave us the discount LOL

I feel the same way about senior discounts as I do about getting a veterans discount. Just happy that they acknowledge these things. Of course, is a little different in this world as so many young folks aren't taught to respect their elders.

I feel your pain!, and I'm only 57 years old, been getting it most places for 4-5 years, I used to take it as a insult, now I just save some money!

I went through the local McDonald's drive through last week to get a small coffee to drink. The person that took my order repeated my order, but called it a "senior" coffee. I laughed. I get to the drive through window and they handed me my small "senior" coffee. I went home and told my wife and daughter, we all got a good laugh. So I went through there again a few days later for the same small coffee, and again I got ordered a small coffee. Again I was handed a "senior" coffee. This time my daughter was along and she really laughed at me. I enjoyed the coffee along with a laugh too. Funny thing is, I am 48 years old. Well, maybe when I don't shave every few days, I look like a "senior". My daughter says jokingly I am. She is only 17! Best part is, the coffee is cheaper price though. LOL

Last summer went into Burger King and ordered a ice cream cone, got the senior discount. When I go though the drive up don't get it.

Another sign

When the cute young bank teller says 'You remind me so much of my dad'

And that was years ago

sigh

This past summer I worked a lot of overtime so I treated myself to breakfast out at McDonalds a couple of saturdays. The third week the local McDs was full so I went to a different one and the price was higher for the same order. The week after that I paid more attention and realized I was getting senior rate for my coffee. The worst one happened toward the end of the summer. Mrs went to town and I hitched a ride figuring to ride the city bus to the library while she kept the car. While waiting for the bus I asked another fellow about the fare and he said I had it right but that I shouldn't pay that. He told me to go to the convenience store where I could get senior bus tickets at a discount if I bought 5. I explained that I was too young and he said "That's no problem, no one would question it". I had just turned 52.

Young guys do not need Playboy as they can see then in the FLESH. We old guys need the magazine because all we can see is the same old woman in robe and curlers.

Wife was buying at a fast food place years ago, closer to 40 than 50 at that time, and the clerk said something to her.

She didn't understand, and asked what.

The clerk repeated it, wife hands over the money and I was just smiling.

We sat down, I never said a word.

Wife asks me, what did the clerk say, I didn't hear him?

I sigh, and said, well I wasn't going to say anything, but he said he gave you the senior discount. And since you didn't hear him either time, kinda re enforced his assessment.....

Wife started laughing, said do I look that rugged today?

I wasn't gonna push my luck any further, don't think I responded to that at all.

I was 39 when my son was born. About 3-4 years later we were in Walmart so I took him back to look at the fish, young Walmart girl gets down next to the kid and says "is grandpaw going to buy you some fishys"? I'm 68 years old today and I don't remember ever getting a senior discount come to think about it.

My late wife had a similar experience. When at the Dr office, the nurse called for my boy and nurse told my son, your grandma can come too. Before she returned home, she stopped off and bought some hair coloring.

I am 68 and never can remember to ask about the senior discount. I guess after 60 years of paying full price the habit is hard to get over.

I'll let you know when it happens. I think they gave it to the wife and kicked it in for me too since I was paying the bill. LOL

Went to the Dr. Thursday with my wife and the Dr. said is this your daughter? Wife gets a kick out of looking younger than me. Oh well. It is what it is.

I'm 81 years old and rarely get a senior discount without asking for it--something I am very averse to doing. So, I usually pay the full price.

Many years ago, we had a family picture with the three kids on our 25th wedding anniversary Photographer told wife and I , the older two kids sit in front. I guess we didn't tell him it was our wedding anniversary.
