Starting to restore an A R JD, 1940 having problem in the starting dept. Seems to have good spark, cleaned carb, checked points and plugs but have to hook up a tractor with pulley to start it, also, not showing any oil pressure on gauge{could be bad gauge} but not getting any coming out of tube to valves. Any help in these dept would be much appreciated,THNKS

If you don't hear the mag clicking when cranking, the impulse spring is broken. No oil pressure is probably a broken drive coupler. Take the crankcase
cover off and follow the pump shaft up to the gov. housing. Feel to see if the coupler is there or broken.

Make sure that you have the tractor running on its own before you say that there is no oil pressure, it will not have pressure or won't have
much at all if its not on its own.
