It's going to be an epidemic!!!!!!!!!!

Three machines I've serviced lately have batteries 7-8 years old. Then I realize I haven't bought any in a while. And I recall it seeming like in the past they came in waves. I just counted up 25 batteries. I hope it's a good crop year!

The ones in the 1850 went bad. Two sixes. I quit driving that 85 Ford pickup,so I took one of the 12s out of that and put it in for now. I was checking dates on some other ones. It looks like some of those might be on their last leg too.

With old equipment that requires a battery, I generally (with Murphy's Law in mind) tend to never shut them down once started - just asking for trouble - LOL!

Then between garden tractors and full size tractors, the batteries can get expensive!

I've thought about having a one really nice jumper, rig my batteries for an easy plug-in, start which ever tractor I need, leave it on until I'm done with it and in doing so, who cares if the battery won't hold a charge anymore and I save a lot of money.

But for now, I just keep buying batteries......

My oldest Son buys all of the batteries and all of the tires taken off of scrapped vehicles from a local wrecking yard. He picks them up every couple months and usually averages around 225 batteries per load, he tests all of the batteries and never has less than 20% good, sometimes as high as 30% - 40% good, he uses many of the good ones in vehicles he sells out of his shop and on his own equipment and sells the rest at 30 bucks a pop, he has sale for the bad batteries at a scrap dealer at 1.00 more than he pays for them but he has to deliver. I buy all batteries I need from him except for my Wifes vehicle.

I thimk I replaced abut 6 or 8 last year, and I know 2 more on the 2520 are gonna have to be replaced this year. It seems like a never ending problem....No wonder I can't make a buck with what they cost nowadays. And tires on the 6400 will be due in another year.......
