Cyclone Seeder

I've got a Cyclone Seeder, made in Urbana,IN. It has the galvanized hopper, bolts to the drawbar and has braces that come up to the fenders...no top link. I know it's a long shot...but...does anybody have a readable chart for this seeder that they would share?? Thanks in advance.

I have one like it, but no chart. I've always gotten by with the SWAG system(scientific wild a$$ guess)educated guess work and counting seeds per square foot, figuring 43,560 square feet per acre. It's been close enough for my small acreage.

Herd manufacturing made a seeder similar to what you are describing. You can still get seeding charts for those, in fact I got one not too long ago. Had to send a stamped self addressed envelope and 4 or 5 dollars and they sent it to me.

Works aver has online manuals of theirs under 'seeders spreaders'.

It may not match settings exactly, but most come seeders are about the same, and it can give you a general idea.

Dad had and I still have a seeder of that style and I don't think it ever came from factory with a chart. And mine is electric motor powered, just a heater motor. Dad would not have a PTO powered unit as if you would slow down to cross a rough spot the width of the spread would drop off to nothing and as soon as you speeded back up again it would do the spreading. When you had to slow for that spot it still ran out the seed at the same rate but did not put it out to where it was supposed to be. Ever watch a salt spreader on a snow plow truck? when out on straight road spread wide when slow down for the stop sign the fan slows and does not spread the salt and when the truck fully stops the fan stops completely and the salt keeps dribbling out and that is why you see big piles of salt anyplace the plow truck stops. Andthose seeders do the same thing with the seed.
