Curious---does anyone refrigerate potatoes?

Only two of us in the house and we don't have a cool dark place to keep our spuds. I just got 20 lb of nice russets and would like to keep the ones that are a nice size for baking in better condition. Is refrigeration ok for potatoes.

It sure has been a nice winter, only had the Case out moving snow once. Tractor related.

Keeping potatoes in the refrigerator will turn its starch into sugar more quickly. Store them in a paper bag in a cool place instead.

Never heard of putting them in a fridg. Mine are just stored at room temp on a shelf with other foods.

I recently kept one in my fridge for nearly three months before I baked it. Turned out perfect.

My wife used to wrap them individually in tissue paper and put them in the crisper drawer; no problem keeping them in there a long time. Now she just wraps them in plain paper towels; seems to work as good as the tissue paper. If not wrapped in soft paper, they don't keep as long.

That's the only way I can ever get them to keep at our place. I just lay them in the fridge in the factory bag.

The newer warehouses have climate control
refrideration now, they can store well up to a year
now.

I keep Russets in the cabinet and they stay good for several months but being in AZ after a while they go bad. I by the golden thin skin potato's and they have to be refrigerated.
