Fuel Shut-off ID

I posted this a while back in the Massey Forum with no luck so I thought I would try here. I have a Perkins diesel MF35 and I found out the fuel tank is not the correct one even though it fits perfect and sure looks like an MF tank. The issue I have is the fuel shutoff fits in the tank fine but is not the correct one. The shutoff leaks and needs replaced but I can't find another one like the one I have that will fit. According to Agriline, they have nothing like the one I have. If anyone can take a look at the pic and either tell me what its off of or where I can find one, it would be a great help. The pic shows the correct MF35 shutoff and my unknown one. Thank you.

Take the parts to the best hardware store (or maybe the oldest hardware) in your area and see if they can fix you up from their brass parts selection.

I tried that. I also tried getting new seals for the inside only to find out the brass is cracked. Looking for a cheaper fix than buying a new fuel tank. Tank is in nice shape too!

You might have a tank with British metric pipe thread. I am assume from your description the threads are the problem.? Also there is some stuff out there with straight thread just like a bolt, no tapper. You may also need to look at hydraulic fittings. Have seen a couple of strange ones. Hope this helped.

That does help. That's the best answer I have gotten thus far. The diameter of threads on mine are much smaller than the OEM diameter. The problem is not thread count but total diameter.

It makes no difference to the tractor what it looks like, if you have room for it. A piece of brake line will screw into the shut off you show, bend and cut it to fit. Look through some catalogs( YT or Steiner) if you need a small one for clearance. Most tanks seem to have the same size hole in them(No not all)so maybe a JD,Ford or AC might work for you.

Looks the same as what Case used on the 70 series fuel tanks, except Case used poly fuel line with a farrow, rather than a copper flange for fuel line. the flange can easily be cut off and farrow and nut easily installed. Shut off still available through CNH parts.

The lower, dirty one is the one which fits your tank? It looks like 3/8" NPT. Do you have room there for a sediment bowl? That would get you into the tank with the same thread, and a new shut off, and various possibilities for direction and fittings to go from there will fuel line.

I have everything brand new OEM for fuel except this piece. Can't really change much and wouldn't want to at this point. Sediment bowl is on the opposite side.

Your old valve looks to have tapered pipe thread. Maybe 3/8" or 1/2" pipe? jeffcat has a point: I used to go crazy on old British motorcycle gas tank fittings trying to find something to fit. If you happen to know some one that delivers fuel oil, see if he has a fitting like that.
