Anyone baled with a Case 400 I ran across one I'd like to buy, think it'd have enough power to handle a New Holland 847 round baler? Its the smaller chain baler about a 4.5ftX4.5ft bale,
my Oliver 1550 gas handles it with no problem, tried the IH 464 on it and the baler was just to much for it.

My great uncle bales with a nh 845 with a 400 gas and a 400 diesel
Should work fine

I pull a nh 852 auto tie with a 830 diesel

According to Tractor Data the hydraulic system operating pressure on the Case 400 is 600 PSI.
Is that enough to run your baler?

I have an 851 NH witch should be the same baler just in a 5x5 configuration. The book specifies 1500 PSI as the operating pressure. As you know with those balers good hydraulics is important to keep the door shut.

that data is incorrect, but I agree they are not enough psi for the round baler ,,this is from the ops manual

I thought it was going to be about the autonomous tractor YouTube video thry released end of last year, where a person in a field can watch the other tractor or tractors with an iPad app. One person will be able to control several machine on each farm at a time. There is no cab on the tractor, don't need one.

It's not quite ready for real, but the parts and pieces are there, just a little more refining.

Funny to see the thread is about a little older concept! :)

Yea I have a couple of NH 851 balers also I use and as you say on those the hydraulics keep the door shut but on the 847 the door has a latch that holds it shut until the
cylinder is activated to open the door, wish the 851 Models had the same set up.

With 1100 or 1200 lbs pressure I'm pretty it'd handle the NH 847 hydraulics what I'm wondering is the power to pull the baler on the PTO without dogging it to death.Could just use it to mow with too.

are you talking about the big 400 built in the mid 50's or the Little 400 built in 58-59? BIG difference in the 2.

I had a 847 NH it was not hard to run I think you would have enough HP but not sure 1200 psi would lock the gate but maybe,, you should have a solid 50 hp in a 400
