Missing serial number

Does anyone know if John Deere stamped the serial number somewhere on a 7520 4WD? I bought one on bigiron that is missing the tag.The previous owner passed away and no one I've talked to knows where he got
it.It has an engine serial tag and my Deere dealer gave it to the company and they said that didn't help

I worked at a Deere dealer back in the 90's, if you can find the owners last name, and since you know the model, it's not hard for a service manager to look it up, just getting one to do it is the issue. I did it all the time for people, usually too less than 30 minutes of detective work.
I don't know why dealers have become so unhelpful!

Because the personal mantra of employees has transitioned from "it all pays the same" to "there's 30 minutes I'll never get back". Everyone has sales targets these days, and spending 30 minutes on something that won't make you any money doesn't help. I guess I'd have taken customer's name and number, and told him I'd try to find some info if I had some idle time.

My issue is that I've talked to my local dealer, to the dealer he used (200 miles away) and his widow. He bought it used before I bought it from him and they all are pretty sure that the tag was gone when he purchased it. I was hoping it was actually stamped into the metal somewhere. I wasn't sure if that was a possibility or if I just am not aware of where to look.

Thanks.
