New manifold and muffler

I got my new manifold and muffler in today from this site for a 8n. I don't have any plans right now to restore the tractor should I paint them before I change them out or just installed them as is. If they need to be painted what would I paint them with brand and color thanks for the help

Never painted an exhaust manifold or a muffler. The heat would just burn the paint off, so there's no point. Could powder coat it, but that's putting lipstick on a pig, if you're not restoring the whole tractor.

An unpainted manifold will rust quickly.
A painted manifold will also rust once the paint's gone.
If you want to paint it the picture below is the paint I use.
I've had it last for over five years on a tractor that wasn't
worked too hard.

It looks like this when done. This is the original manifold.

I have used ceramic coating and if installed correct it will last a long time. Now the high heat paints don't hold up. I ceramic coated the muffler 6 years ago and is still good and not flaking off.

I agree with Royse, that there are some very good high heat paints that will keep your manifold looking good for as long as ten years depending on use. Eastwoods has a few to choose from and they have reviews to help you to get an idea of what to expect.

Here is picture of muffler that was done with VHT ceramic paint. You have to make sure the piece is cleaned and you bake it on tractor according to their directions. You can't just paint it and go out and use tractor.

I painted the intake and exhaust with the the same red I used on the tractor. This is how it looks 3 years later. Really only use it to grade driveways with though.

That sounds better than usual. Most of the time somebody wants to weld and braze back together an old rotten manifold instead of purchasing a new manifold.

Thanks for all the help. I looked at a lot of pics and not to many were painted I installed it as it was and it sounded good. I am not going to restore just planning to use it for awhile . I think I will be able to adjust the carb a lot easier now
