Update On BigD.

Spent yesterday and a lot of today sanding on the truck. Pretty much ready for primer I think? Need to pull window trims, and do a little sanding / scuffing by hand here and there. As far as paint removal, I stayed away from the paint stripper. I read the can at AutoHouse and though "NO!". I just sanded. and sanded. and sanded. then I sanded some more! LOT of work, but it is going to be so nice when it is done!!

The 2nd picture is where the big crack was in the right dually fender. I sanded down to the plastic inside and out, and did a very thick layer of fiberglass on the inside, and a single layer on the outside. Set up really strong, looks good. I sanded that a little, and then a light layer of LiteWeight, and it is looking really good! Going to really burry that area in Primer, should cover it up once I block it down I believe.

All in all going well! Have decided that I am going to go to 19.5 Semi tires / wheels. I think it is going to look REALLY good when done! So excited! :)

Looks like your doing a great job on it no doubt that paint is going to stick well. I would just tell ya to paper & tape up your door jams hood and tailgate were the seam is or you will be removing overspray inside the door jams hood and tailgate particularly if your changing colors the paint or primer spray will go in the cracks and will look really bad when you open the doors hood ext. You probably already have the primer but if you don't I would use red oxide primer its much easier to sand it and see defects in it than the gray. Note: either primers fine just giving you my prospective. Tip: You don't want to have orange peel in the primer or else you'll have orange peel in the paint as well so apply it thin or sand it smooth after application were you need to block out defects and waves. Looks like you know what your doing through but I through I would just throw it that out there. I appreciate all the help you have giving me in the past.

It just occurred to me you may be spraying the jams as well if so you got it covered if not remember to tape up the rubber door seals at the top and in front of the window jamb. Also rubber stoppers under the hood I used to clean em with thinner first then tape em up
Best of luck with it Byron

I appreciate it! Advice is always welcome! I won't be putting the color on it, I really don't have the guts to do that!! Have a buddy do it in a an actual paint booth were there will be no contaminates, and a constant temperature.

I haven't masked anything off yet, but he was telling me to really do a good job at it, because paint can and will go ANYWHERE. The truck is staying the same color (onyx black), so doorjams and such will hopefully blend okay.

I plan on primering it, DA with a 220 real fast, and then blocking / wet sanding by hand with 600.

Keep in mind, if you go to 19.5 tires, your bumper hitch height will increase as will any goose neck or 5th wheel trailers will be riding up hill if you can not adjust them...

Other than that it is looking good.
