Here are a few MF tractors......
Early 65 diesel...my dad had a similar late model with dished steering wheel
Odd ferguson 40 in red, most were tan/ beige colour with 2 wheels narrow front around here.
97 Massey, very much like MM of the same size, vintage. Odd that MF would market the 97 and 98 derived from an MM and Oliver model, then later as those makes evolved into White, that company used engines sourced from Perkins which was an MF subsidiary
Super 90 gas...most were diesels .This tractor and the 97 were in impeccable condition.
Super 90 diesel taken on our very wet tractor drive into Lucknow
Different shade of red tomorrow....Ben

I always liked those Super 90s. A neighbor had one he bought new. He was one of those guys who could ruin an anvil with a tack hammer, but when he had his auction, that old Super 90 was the only tractor he had that still ran.

Are you sure the 40 hasen't been repainted. They had inerchangeable front ends. Trycicle, single wheel like the one pictured an wide front. I have a 56 yr mod. Some were painted metalic green with the tan rather than grey.

I like my masseys. I've got six 65s, a super 90, a 165, two 175s, two 180s, a MH 50, and a Ferguson 40. That is actually a late 65 going by the floorboards, hood ornament, fuel filters, and direct injection engine. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, I worked for Massey Ferguson in Vancouver in 1963. I know because thats where I was when JFK was shot. That was the year the first MF came into the warehouse that the castings were metallic green and tin was beige. Ed Will Oliver BC wine capital

More like a "middle" 65. First Dieselmatics still had the flat steering wheel along with the early 65 seat, clutch and brake pedals. Late models had the dished steering wheel, deluxe suspension seat, clutch and brake pedals were changed too. Parts changed carried over to the 165 also.

Don't know what year the made the first Massey Ferguson. I do know they continued to label 1 Massey Harris and 1 Ferguson after the merger: same tractor , differnt paint. My 56 Ferguson has Massey Harris Ferguson on the serial number plate.

My Uncle bought a new Ferguson 35 Deluxe in 1954. Being a 10 year boy wondered what was going on because the serial number plate had Massy Harris Ferguson. Didn't know they had merged.

Nice. Thanks for the pics. Lots of Massey's farmed the land where I grew up (sask.) both Harris and Ferguson. Good tractors.

Here's another "97", still in it's work clothes...

Somebody painted it that ugly red as they did not like the orignal color or else they were trying to fool somebody into thinking it was newer,

Our neighbor had one. They were susceptible to breaking crankshafts. His broke one year and six months later he found one out of MM G1000 that was the same. He installed it and the tractor worked fine. But he didn't keep it and a few months later it got traded on another tractor.
