So Rural King has 5qt jugs of Harvest King full synthetic oil for $9.99

Bottled/made by Mid-States Distributing. Got an API rating of SN.

Bought 5 jugs, got 4 cars ready for oil changes.

What could possibly go wrong?

I have found there are differences in quality of brands of synthetic oils. But for that price you can't really go wrong. Just change oil again when the oil gets dirty.

I always understood that the oil was supposed to get dirty, that's what the detergent is for. So the rate at which the oil gets dirty reflects the condition of the engine, not the quality of the oil.

Yes, Russ, you are correct. Oil is supposed to get dirty, and the rate at which it gets dirty is an indication of engine condition. But it is a good idea to change the oil when it gets dirty.
