Looks like ice storm heading for Old

Yep NOAA has me in a winter ice storm warning from midnight tonight till Sunday night. Calling for up to around 1 inch of ice. I am not really ready for it but if it happens I'll have to get ready

I know I lived for a week with out power in 2007. And if it happens this time I do not know if my 4X4 truck is ready for it plus I will have to figure out how to help both my mom and sister and also take care of my own stuff

Old I hope you have a generator that you can run if the ice hits. The power lines will be the first thing to go.

That is one of the reason I am not ready. I hooked a battery to it yesterday and all it will do is click so not sure what is wrong and did not have the time to dig into it any deeper. Plus is is not big enough to power the whole house

I have a 21 kW PTO, post if it looks like an extended outage, will see what I can do if needed.

Wish I had a PTO type generator because if I did I am sure i would be able to start at least one tractor to run it. But he generator I have is a n old Kohler 6.5KW unit I got cheap back in 06 and it did help me in Jan of 07 when we had the ice storm but I have not had it running since then. Plus it is not big enough to power the house

Keep us posted, I have run it off the 47HP McCormick, and 65HP Ford 6610, I would assume it would work fine on your 801.

I would probably hook it up to the Oliver S88 and it would play with it. That old Oliver starts up easy no matter what the weather is and is around 55HP plus the independent live PTO makes it nice for many things. Of course if I do not have power I also do not have the computer so could not ask for help even if I needed it

OLD...go out and get several Bags of Rock Salt NOW...

It can help in a million ways when ice has you stopped..

Just ONE handfull under each set of drivers has got me out of serious trouble in a truck stop with a rear lot tapered toward the back and everyone was getting closer to the end.
Was Thick Ice and was raining bad..that 2 handfulls of Salt brought us all the way out and onto the road..( full gross load, Pete )..
If some just gets lodged in the tire tread it can help more than you expect..
I always carried 5 or 10 lbs in the Truck..got laughed at if someone saw it, but it sure helped us many times..

In years past I would put a bucket load of gravel in the bad of my pickup truck and a shovel. I got out of a lot of places because if the gravel and a couple shovels of gravel under the tire helps a whole lot. I remember one time seeing a tanker gas truck at a store that kept spinning out before he could make it on the hwy. I pulled in and ask if he needed help and he said no way your truck will pull me on the hwy and I said no it will not but what I have in the back will. I threw down a number of shovels of gravel and he then tried it and he got out

Yup, no point in exerting one's self to prepare for something that may not even happen.

Those "Good Samaritan Acts" are what makes you feel Decent inside...

I try to have 2 "Instant Spare" cans ( Green Slime is best) and if or when I see someone with a Flat, I offer one to them... then tell them "no charge", just YOU purchase 2 and offer the same help to them..

"Pay Forward"...We need all the "Good Karma" we can get..!!

We got by last summer with a 2500 Coleman for 31 hours, ran cords in to the fridge and freezer, unplugged them when using the coffee maker. The only time it struggled was starting the sewer lift pump, but it did it. Anything is better than nothing, and that was the first time we have ever had an extended outage in my 65 years.

Your starting to act like a grumpy old man who has nothing better to do then try to knock a guy down when he is already down Your getting to be a sad person so keep it to your self if you have nothing better to do then to put a person down

I have stopped and help more then one female change a tire and if I am in my truck I have aired the tire up for them and told them if they want I'll follow them to a tire shop so it can be fixed.

I would be kind of careful about that...what if one followed ya Home...?.!!

I don't think I could afford it..I believe it is cheaper to have one part-time...!!

LOL all depends on which truck I was in. I did that one time when I was in my 1963 Diamond-T dump truck so she was sort of caught off guard when I pull up to help her change a tire since it was not a small truck. I have even had people in O'Reilly's when they find out I can work on there car ask me to take them back to where they broke down then install the part for them which I have done a number of time

I live near Potosi, Mo. about 70 miles south of St. Louis. nearly an hour ago the freezing rain changed over to sleet, for which I am thankful. Sleet does not load down the power lines and trees like the rain does, so sleet is good. The worst part of the storm stretches all the way back to the Oklahoma line, and appears to be lining up on us. First of week I ran my generators for a couple hours and made sure they were fueled and oil up to level. Verified trickle charger on the 8.5kw was working, etc. Having worked where one of my jobs was maintaining our standby generators I do run them every month to 6 weeks.

Not all that bad. Might have gotten 3/8 of an inch. Did shut down power for a few hours but that was over night so no big deal

They played it up to beat the band here..Again, they shouted "Wolfe" ( Fake News?) and what was to be a disaster here in Ohio

Turned out 99% Rain and only the slightest hint of any Ice ( I found a THIN layer on a Plastic Bucket left outside)..

Sure get tired of them embellishing the Forecasts...

NOW, they are predicting "Armageddon" ( from Ice) in the South and New England...guess we will live with what even drops from the sky...they

really seem to have no idea..!

GLAD you had things under Control there..!! You Lost NO Goats OR Prized Chickens this time...!!

Ya I think after the 2007 Jan ice storm they have gotten gun shy when it comes to ice so they make a big deal out of it and then it does not happen but I guess it is better for them to cry wolf then to say well in might
