Pics of progress in Case 831grill guard

It was time to test fit the front bumper/grill guard to the 831C, It was heavier than I could handle, so I had to invent a lifting tool. I welded a piece of 3/8" rod to top of the 1"OD pipe that I used to align the front draw pin hole and clamped it into the pocket with a vice grip. It lifted up level enough with my cherry picker, so I could slide the main frame onto the nose of the tractor and bolt it fast. Everything fit. Woopee. Once the main frame was fastened, I set the grill guard on the frame. I'm happy with the way it looks. Ran out of new steel so reverted back to my stash of Kubota crates to finish it off. Still need to weld the bottom flanges on the grill guard and bolt it to the main frame. Also need to fab a bracket on center uprite that will bolt to cultivator frame within the grill assy.
Phase III will be a front fender that will look similar to the pic of the front fenders that I built for my 931, except it will bolt solid to the frame that I
I built. Spent some time cutting cardboard up today to mock up my front fender design. Stay tuned.

What size is your shop ?
I have noticed, you turning out a good amount of work out of their.
Nice looking work too, may I add.

Looks great. And that is a fine looking 830. The only thing I might add is expanded metal to fill in the open space and make a real guard against anything poking holes in the grille. I have a very crude one I just threw together a few years ago to protect the front of my 730. It is crude and ugly but I'm not afraid to use the dozer blade to push down trees with that guard up front. I'll have to find a picture of it.

Very nice weldment. I think I would put 3/16" expanded metal over the front of it with bolted through stainless steel bolts to prevent limb intrusion. Jim

Loren Have you ever noticed that some of the metal from the KUBOTA crates work different . Seems some of it is hard and brittle then the next crate will be soft. I still have about 50 of the large ones left. I use them to stack lumber from the saw mill on but ever now and then cut one up for projects like you. Guard really looks good.

jm I have noticed some differences when welding on them. Some burn through very easily and others don't. Same dimentions of steel, but not sure on exact thickness.
