I am charging two deep cycle 6 volt batteries. I mentioned a few days ago the water was below the plates. I topped off with distilled water I charged each one at a time with a 6 amp charge for 15 hours. One reads 6.40 amps the other reads 6.60 amps. Hydrometer test, one battery has two sells in the green (good) one in the fair. The other has one in the green, and the other two cells say fair. The batteries are 4 years old. If I install them in my motorhome will they still be ok. Can I charge the batteries more? Hope I didn't bore anyone. Stan

Assuming your words regarding 6.6 and 6.4 are voltage, not Amps, I would suspect your volt meter of optimism. 6.3 is all they should read after sitting for 15 minutes after being on a charger. The batteries may not be charged completely. If you have access to an automatic charger that can be used over night, I would suggest doing that. Check your volt meter against a known voltage (car battery not running) 12.5 to 12.6 volts. Hygrometer readings that vary between cells are an indicator of sulfation. The charger/maintainer/desulfering devices do work to extend the usability of batteries. They can be charged in series if a 12v device is what is available. Jim
